About O'Neill
Back in1952, Jack O'Neill opened the first Surf Shop in a garage. He shaped a few balsa surfboards and sold accessories like paraffin wax and vests he started gluing together from neoprene. When the vests started selling, Jack decided to go into the wetsuit business. The Surf Shop became a local gathering place, and the number of surfers began to grow. O'Neill flew in talented craftspeople like Phil Edwards to make boards, and wetsuit sales climbed. Soon surfers were riding more waves, and riding them better, in large measure because they could enjoy longer sessions in cold water thanks to Jack's neoprene suits.

As Jack improved his wetsuit designs, surfers' territories expanded. Northern California became a year-round surf zone, and people were surfing New Hampshire and Rhode Island in January. Explorations and transplants to surf culture opened up Oregon, Washington, and Canada. Meanwhile, divers, water-skiers, snow-skiers, and windsurfers were wearing wetsuits. As business boomed, O'Neill relocated to a large manufacturing facility, and his surf shop has morphed into an international company, leading the world's wetsuit market and an innovator in beach lifestyle sportswear in the United States, Japan, and Europe.

Jack's son Pat eventually assumed the CEO position, freeing Jack to surf, sail, and work at a variety of environmental projects. Besides a strong interest in saving the great white shark from extinction, Jack has also developed the O'Neill Sea Odyssey program -- a free, educational cruise aboard the Team O'Neill catamaran that acquaints kids with the microbiology of the Monterey Bay Marine Sanctuary.

Very good fit.

The water is 58 degrees right now and it keeps me warm enough to surf for about 90 minutes before I start feeling the cold.

I had owned a wetsuit before and decided to go with this because of the price and good reviews and am quite happy with it. I purchased this suit for swimming in a pool. I'm 5'9", 145 lbs with 29" waist and 38" chest. Size Small fits perfectly. The suit feels nice and snug without any scratchy spots. With the suit (and Blue Seventy Cap, gloves, and socks) I can swim in 63F water feeling as comfortable as I do in 82F water without one(s).

This has been used to snorkel in 54 degree open ocean and it is not only comfortable, but hold up just great. Great suit for the price.

I was worried about fit after reading some of the reviews so I checked out O'niell sizing chart on their website 1st and decided to go with the medium and it fits perfect. I'm a slim guy at 5'11, 155lbs.

This is my first (non-rental) wetsuit. I so far have only used it for snorkeling over the course of a few days in Okinawa in October 2014, so the ocean temperature was approximately pool temperature. The wetsuit kept me at a very comfortable temperature in the water. I am 5'6" (male) and weigh around 170lb (I like to think it's mostly muscle but there is some of the other stuff there as well). My Large/Short fit well and was very comfortable and fairly easy to put on and take off, especially compared to 5mm suits that I have rented in the past. This also allowed me more flexibility than past suits, and I didn't notice any "bunching up" of my swim trunks, which I wore under the suit. I do like the zipper in the back with the long string attached so that the zipper can be zipped and unzipped without too much acrobatics. The neck can also be adjusted with a velcro strap so that it is not too tight or too loose.
I have a feeling this one will last awhile. I researched quite a bit on amazon and online scuba/snorkel forums, and got a great product in return!

The O'Neil Reactor 3/2 is a a great buy at less than $100. Does the job for all of LA's seasons. Sleeves don't ride up and leg portions stay snug throughout a two hour surf.

Not heavy but still protective of weather. Fits right and easy to take care of. Nice manufacturing. My only suggestion, buy the hanger.

It seems that these days, a so-called 3/2 wetsuit has become a 2 mil suit with just some 3 mil panels in the chest and back. This is not what I was looking for. I have owned at least a dozen 3/2 suits and this is the first I've encountered with this configuration. Every single one of the 3/2s I've owned in the past were 3mm through the torso and legs with 2mm in the shoulders and arms, only. It would be nice if the distribution of thicknesses were plainly spelled out in the ad. I have since come across similarly misleading wetsuit ads elsewhere. If I wanted a 2 mil, that's what I would have searched for.
I have put the suit up for sale in the local classifieds. New, with tags. I doubt I'll buy another wetsuit via Amazon again. Best to test out in person.
