O'Neill's Child Wetsuit Sizing Chart: (Moved the size chart to the top as I imagine that's a key part of what everyone is looking for...) I thought I'd provide O'Neill's sizing chart for the toddler/child sizes. It took some digging to find it, I'll post how to navigate O'Neill's site to this product's discussion forum for those who want to see the full Youth sizes (Size 8-16), and/or the equivalent Metric sizing.

Note: If your child wears a swim diaper, take waist measurements with swim diaper ON.
Size 1 (Toddler): Height: 2'10.5" - 3'2.5"; Weight: 25-30lbs; Chest: 19"-21"; Waist: 18"-20"
Size 2 (Toddler) : Height: 3'2.5" - 3'6.5"; Weight: 30-35lbs; Chest: 20"-22"; Waist: 19"-21"
Size 3 (Toddler) : Height: 3'6.5" - 3'10.5"; Weight: 35-40lbs; Chest: 21"-23"; Waist: 20"-22"
Size 4 (Child): Height: 3'10.5" - 4'1.5"; Weight: 40-55lbs; Chest: 23"-25"; Waist: 20"-22" (NB: Not a typo, waist is supposedly the same as Size 3)
[NB: Size 5 doesn't exist in this product, it jumps to Size 6]
Size 6 (Child): Height: 4'1.5" - 4'45"; Weight: 50-65lbs; Chest: 24.5"-26.5"; Waist: 21"-23"

Update May 25, 2012, one full summer season of use in:
Our Size 1 wetsuit sat out in the desert sun drying for almost every day of Summer 2011 (four months) (not my intention, oops, not great for neoprene in general), and it still is going strong, so I'd say it's extra durable. As another review has noted, the suit does get *very* mild staining from zinc-based sun block, but it's nothing that you could really notice, per se. I mean, from my point of view, you lather sunblock on, it's way better than a sunburn on poor little toddler skin.

I searched high and low for a wetsuit for my three year old daughter. We go to Canada every summer and the water is always "refreshing". Mid-sixties. This shorty made all the difference for her to be more comfortable in the water for longer periods of time. Very comfortable in and out of the water. She couldn't wait to put it on each and every time. The fit was right on. Great quality. A little extra room in the crotch area which is perfect to get us a few more months of wear while in the south where we can ski certainly well into the fall. My daughter measures 39" in height, three years old and was about 21 inches from neck to crotch. We got her a size 3. I would buy another.

I can't recommend this model suit highly enough - my daughter has been wearing them happily for a year. They're spendy, but I put a high priority on her learning to swim. To ensure that she is warm enough to enjoy lessons, this expense is worth it to me.

NOTE: I don't recommend it for a super-skinny kid - the suit must be snug to work properly. Buying "room to grow" in a wetsuit will backfire by letting too much water circulate while swimming. This style has room for a little toddler-chub. Best to order two sizes and return one so you can be sure of a good fit.

Thank you to the first review from June 5, 2011. Your review helped me decided which size to buy. I measured my skinny 6 yr old daughter (44in tall,35 lbs,20in waist,21in chest)and I bought two sizes (2 and 3) because I wasn't sure which would fit her better (my gut said size 3 but with past experiences she always needed a size smaller because she was so petite.) The size 2 was more snug for her body but was not long enough for her height. The size 3 was long enough but a smidge bigger than size 2, overall the size 3 was a better fit so I returned the size 2 . Love, love this suit! My daughter uses it on chilly days for swim class and it works! Normally, her lips turn purple and she is shaking like a leaf after a few minutes of class but with this suit she can stay in for the entire class and she is warm! She has no problem doing different swim strokes in it and I think the suit material gives her a little buoyancy which helps because she hardly has any fat to help her keep afloat! The suit was a little pricey ($50 plus tax) but it was a good investment! Couldn't be happier! I would purchase again when my daughter grows out of this suit.

Today my child had his swimming lesson and for the first time he did everything he was supposed to do in the water because he wasn't cold, no more purple lips or shivering. This is a great quality suit fits great, my child is 3 I got size 2. If your child is taking indoor swimming lesson this is a must have and way worth the price.

We like this product for swim lessons. Even though our pool is typically 86 degrees our two year old was still cold before the end of his 45 minute lesson, now he doesn't have that problem. We used the sizing information posted by another reivew from the O'neill site. Those measurements are very true adn we ordered a Size 1 for our 30lb 2 year old. It fits him very well and snugly so as to keep the water out. We have used it at least 3 times a week since we got it and have no complaints on the quality.

Okay, I watched my skinny little 5yr old cry through two 25-minute swim lessons in a row at an 84-degree outdoor pool in a cool California summer evening. She wouldn't do anything the instructor asked even though 3 other little girls were bouncing around and enjoying themselves. She stood and clung to the side and cried and looked at me with weepy pleading eyes as she tried to be strong.
Then.....in comes this wetsuit, coupled with a long-sleeve rash guard underneath and a swim cap and my little one is smiling and practicing her kicking and calling "Mommy, watch this!" as she practiced dunking her head and blowing bubbles. I couldn't be more thrilled. She looks like a crackup in the water ...ready for her little triathlon, but she's happy and excited for lessons and that's all that matters. She loves this thing and "swam" for an hour in grandma's freezing 78-degree pool this weekend. Still shivers when she gets out but is happy to play and the cold doesn't stop her from enjoying the pool anymore!!!!
She is currently 40inches tall and 31.5pounds...the size 2 fits well. It is snug on her legs and arms so no room for water to flow up and into it from these openings. She definitely has room to grow some more and still be able to wear this easily...a good 2 inches in the neck to crotch ares and while snug enough around the chest/torso, it is by no means a tight tug pulling up the zipper. I had bought a size 3 just in case because I thought she might be on the high side of the length, but I don't think she'll even be wearing the bigger one next summer. In comparison to the size 4T Speedo (which is a girlie pink that she loved and thought she wanted) this is way better fitting. The legs and arms on that one are more like shorts and shortsleeves so no good for keeping cozy warm water next to the body. The 3T speedo fits tight legs, but no room in crotch to raise arms above head.
