4.0 out of 5 stars An Appropriate Use of Chaotic Dead People, July 8, 2000

This review is from: *OP Renegades (Wraith the Oblivion) (Paperback)
This book struck me as rather well-written, if a bit dry at times and relying too much on the whole "Renegades don't rely on anybody.

The book starts with the oft-used Ghost Story, though this time, it starts with two seperate stories. It then follows through with the Introduction, which tells how to use the book in a chronicle, as well as a story on how Renegade forces work in the Underworld.

The book begins with Chaper One: A History of Revolution. It tells the history of Stygia and the Underworld, from the groups that have always opposed them. The beginning came out rather dry, but did represent how much the Renegades are seperated in perspective.

Chapter Two: Under the Gun and Chapter Three: Bridges and Barricades examines the groups that make up the Renegades, from political dissidents, idealist, outlaws, and plain old drop-outs from the Underworld. It details the different types of groups that make up the Renegades, along with how well they interact with each other.

Chapter Four: Making the Revolution, Chapter Five: The Soul of a Renegade and Chapter Six: Children of the Revolution details new Backgrounds, Abilities and Arcanoi, the creation process for a Renegade, and shows templates for the four groups that make up the Renegade group.

Finally, the appendix details the various famous Renegades and groups in the Underworld.

Overall, I thought this book to be rather good, though still had enough conflicted points (mainly in the history section, where there was SO much dissension I had a hard time paying attention) that I had to give this book 4 stars...blah.
