the real truth about OPC,
By Glen A. Halvorson M.D. (Tucson, AZ) - See all my reviews
This review is from: OPC in Practice: The Hidden Story of Proanthocyanidins (Hardcover)
Schwitter's book has great historical value for the consumer of OPC because it presents an unbiased story of the inventor, Dr. Masquelier. The book may be difficult reading, however, for the typical American reader since the author is northern European. I like the historical accuracy which is in contrast with stories propagated by companies selling OPC. This nutrient has tremendous potential health benefits-therefore tremendous profit potential--motivating retailers to make false claims for the superiority of their product based on source, extraction methods, and polyphenol content. Great news! I have just authored a update on OPC ready for the publisher in January. This book will close the gap on recent research not included in Schwitter's 1993 publication, which until now has been my most reliable resource for public presentations to network marketing companies. I also believe my book will be easier reading for the American consumer and is more clinically relevant since it is written from my perspective as a clinician. Please feel free to contact me after the first of the year if you think my new book would be of interest to your readers!
