Okay, it sounds crazy, but nail polish is essentially very pricey, very bright paint. I use it to mark SAE and Metric tools that are easily confused, like hex wrenches. I have no idea how it performs on nails, but on steel tools it goes on smoothly and lasts for years before it wears off.
