This is actually the most dependable mouse I've ever used. I have a Dell XPS, and the Dell optical mouse has never given me any problems at all, neither in gaming nor in basic computer use. I just bought a higher-priced mouse from a prominent company to replace this one, expecting that it'd work better if anything, but that was not the case. I won't go into the other one's faults, but installing and uninstalling drivers did nothing to remedy the problems I was having with it. I'm actually planning on buying a new cheapy to replace the "good" one. It's a shame I didn't just keep my old one.
Yes, it's cheap and simple, and yes, I've heard that it disconnects for other people, but I'm pretty sure that's a computer hardware issue rather than a mouse issue. Either way though, I'd say it's probably safer to take Adrian Cooper's advice here if you are unsure. There indeed is usually a correlation between price and quality (unless you're just buying a name), and I don't want to recommend something if it is just going to disconnect for you. But I do personally prefer it.

And to think I bought this mouse used. Initially I had a problem with the 1st one I'd bought, but Envirotech, the sellers, were on top of it, sending me a replacement at no extra charge. Awesome.

This particular mouse is surface sensitive. So, I recommend you get a mouse pad to place it on. There's no dragging, no stiffness. I got mine for $4.25 with free shipping and handling.

I not only recommend this mouse, I recommend Envirotech the dealers.

I had bought a new Gateway computer and the keyboard and the mouse were just so flimsy and CHEAP... I replace both with Dell products which I'm so happy with... The mouse is particularly good, it takes just the right amount of pressure to press and click.

I'm a no frills type of person. This mouse to me is like a classic example of the greatness of simplicity. And it's sad how long it took me just to find something like this... because they're always pushing these "new things" these days.

I always preferred my mice & keyboards to be PS2, but it seems computers are doing away with that altogether these days.

Also I have a Dell PC, a Dell monitor, and a Dell keyboard. I have to stay consistent here... Maybe it's just a placebo but I feel they all work together better because they're created by the same company.

I bought 2 of these, and recommend doing the same. First of all, because you never know when a mouse will go bad, or get a drink spilled on it. But even moreso, because I wouldn't doubt before long you won't be able to find something so simple and practical like this... only "pimped out" ones.

It work great for a couple of weeks and it it start to go crazy like when you try to move the mouse to the right, it move to the left instead. Overall, if it was not for that problem then the mouse itself is great.

As one of the mouses used at stations at my workplace, I found this mouse to be decently comfortable. I worked 4+ hours with this mouse and it does the job fine.

* Clicking isn't too loud.
* The scroll moves quickly enough to look through pdfs.
* The mouse is a little bit small though for my hand.

Overall, no complaints about this since it's such a basic mouse. For the right price (8 - $12), this is a good option to consider.

I bought this as a replacement for my broken Dell mouse. Good quality, much better than the Logic tech brand mouses; those are absolute crap. Dell laser mouses are much better and will last about 7-8 years

Ok i've had one of these mice for about 5 years, and the wheel on it finally broke a week ago. that is after 5 YEARS of using it for school and gaming. the fact that it lasted this long, and that both buttons still work shows it is very good.

when it broke i bought a new mouse from target, not one of these but a different brand.
Day 2 with new mouse, right button stopped working.

so i got yet another from amazon.com
day 4 with new mouse, left button broke.

so finally i decided to hunt this one down and am glad to see it again, put in an order for it (using the old one whose wheel stopped working) and i have to say, compared to other mice that break like they are made like 3 year olds, this mouse is perfect for anything.

pro:
durable,
long lasting,
good for gaming(aka button mashing)
great for travel(surviving being in a bouncing bag at the airport)
very good sensitivity, not jerky at all

cons: the wheel does eventually lose the groves in it, leading to a smooth wheel, but this just shows how long the mouse lasts. long enough for the rubber to erode! compared to other mice whose wheels break before the groves are even scratched, and this mouse is worth it!

does seem to cost a bit much, but after what i have seen with the 2 other mice i got, i say its price is worth it, maybe even more!

for people who use computers alot, this mouse is essential
