beautiful but slow, June 21, 2008
This review is from: OQO 1060107-US Model 02 5" Ultra Mobile PC UMPC (Personal Computers)
(+) very nice design
(+) tablet functions work wells with both XP Tablet & Vista
(+) large screen for size and weight.
(-) slow. needs cpu upgrade & faster hard drive spin speed. more RAM would be nice.
(-) weak antennas. needs "n" upgrade.
(-) have to carry peripheral devices, so defeat the small size.
(-) small keyboard.
***only purchase if you enjoy gadgets. I have both this and the Sony UX50. did not use them much and ended up reselling them.

Nice try but they don't last, April 2, 2010
This review is from: OQO 1060107-US Model 02 5" Ultra Mobile PC UMPC (Personal Computers)
I recently had two of these, one with the SSD and the other with a normal 2.5 inch drive. They both broke within months of purchase. While OQO was around they fixed each under warranty. They took their time, but replaced the main board on each one and honored the warranty. Now they are bankrupt and gone and the units are broken again.
While they worked the screen and ergonomics were very nice. I used them under XP and even ran Mathematica and other linear algebra software (from Cygwin). I even got OS X running on it with the "Hackintosh" install. I considered it versatile, fun, and handy. From business meetings I could do sophisticated manipulations on documents or RDP into other machines, all in the palm of my hand.
Nevertheless it was money poorly spent. These machines are not cheap. I will try in the future to resist buying from such a small and unstable company. Support is at least as important as the original unit itself.

Great Device but still needs some improvements - Best with XP tablet, April 29, 2008
This review is from: OQO 1060107-US Model 02 5" Ultra Mobile PC UMPC (Personal Computers)
I've been using the OQO e2 for a while , I fully moved from my old HP laptop to the OQO e2 , I noticed the slow response and some time a total freeze with Vista business , my work depends fully on emails and I have over 1000 email in my inbox most of them are with attachments and I feel the OQO is struggling with them , also It's hard just to open the media player in the background for some music , also the power problem since the original battery lasts for an hour max and the double capacity can deliver 2.5 max.
also the heat but all laptops gets hot while operating even my old HP.
BUT.
Very handy and well made ,keeps you online most of the time (even in the WC ), user friendly keys geniously designed , Great docking station which is a must have item along with the double capacity battery ,in office and home , Excellent setup with the IGO bluetooth mouse and slim keyboard , I have to admit , the fantastic mobility provided by this device beats it's con's , Yes I would buy it again knowing since what I know now .
UPDATE :-
I've contacted OQO and request to downgrade the Vista Business to XP tablet to get a better performance , They sent me the restore DVD in less than 48 Hours for Free ( I'm in Egypt - Cairo ) , I've installed it and the device performance has improved by more than 75% , I get a much faster response ,can play music in the background even movies which was impossible under the Vista .
Final Conclusion :
Excellent device ONLY with XP , the machine can't handle the Vista , If you want to get one , SAVE money and get the XP-Tablet version .
