Additionally, this item came missing a plastic cap that makes it impossible to install.

I say figure out because there were NO instructions, diagrams, or any paperwork of any description with the motor in the box.

It was easy to install (once we got the impeller loose) and now our oreck is working like new again!

When I took my Oreck vaccum in for a cleaning and tune up they told me the motor was going bad I did not want to pay what they wanted to replace the motor I continued to use the vacuum for over a year and when the motor finally went bad turned to amazon to find a replacement affordible, yes easy to repace the motor, yes the instructions were easy to follow and had it done in about 20 minutes a great way to keep an expensive vacuum running for an affordible price

Our Oreck XL lasted over 10 years before the original motor died. It seemed sad to let such a major investment go to the trash. The motor we received was even higher quality than the original, with metal casing instead of the black plastic. It was easy to install (once we got the impeller loose) and now our oreck is working like new again! I don't even wanna think about how much it would have cost to have repaired professionally. It was so easy to replace the motor, and WAY cheaper than buying a whole new vacuum!

The instructions leave a bit to the imagination as they are somewhat brief and a bit difficult to follow for the neophyte installer. Though I was able to figure it out additional photo illustrations would have been helpful. My vacuum is up and running like a new one!

Contrary to some of the reviews on this product, there is nary a single word of instructions, nada, zip. It would be really nice to at least get a wiring diagram.

This is not an Oreck original motor. Oreck original motors have a plastic not metal housing. Additionally, this item came missing a plastic cap that makes it impossible to install.

This motor was an almost identical replacement for the one in my XL upright vacuum. The mounting lug on one side was larger, with an extra hole not needed for my model but it didn't interfere with installation. It comes as shown, without the fan. If you're in there replacing the motor, I would suggest buying an new fan to install at the same time. Mine was pretty chewed up when I took it out. You'll need to remove the old fan from the motor to transfer the plate and washer underneath it over to your new one. The nut holding the fan on is reverse threads, so turn right to loosen. Once you get it apart, put the soft washer, the plate, small flat washer, fan blade, lock washer, & nut on the new motor in that order.
I noted the wire positions on the old motor before I took it apart and it was simple to reattach the wires to the correct spades on each corner. Then it's just reinstalling the components the reverse of how you took it apart and you're done. It works great now, and with the new fan I can feel that it has stronger suction. If it lasts as long as the last motor, I will be very happy.
Overall, a pretty easy job if you're at least a novice handyperson.

The motor could be good, but I'll never know. There are no wiring instructions as advertised and the lug configuration on this is totally different than the Old Oreck motor. The motor has three wires and the motor has four lugs and no way to know which to use. I contacted the company through Amazon, but No Response. I had to return it.

Way above a beyond ordinary motors in aging vacuum cleaners, my trusty screwdrivers (only) and I managed a clean sweep restoring my aging Oreck. Powerful enough now to pull itself across the rug all by itself. Imagine that? !!
