It's just a hex lock, so if you lose the key no biggie, just find an allen wrench that will work.

Seems like a much better arrangement than the old sleeve/tray setup.

Ordered two ORICO CD-ROM Space internal 3.5'' SATA HDD frame/mobile rack internal HDD case (metal+ plastic(1105ss) for our server.
They replaced the old tray style mobile racks that required 7 screws to mount the hard drive to the tray before you could slide it into the rack. The ORICO system is much better- once you mount the sleeve in the 5.25" open slot- you can slip any bare 3.5" SATA drive into it without tools. Seems like a much better arrangement than the old sleeve/tray setup. You can literally swap out a drive in 2 seconds and no need to buy spare trays for backup drives!
The install went well- remember to depress the power button on the rack cover before turning the computer on or it won't see your hard drive(s). Once powered up the rack has a bright blue LED ti indicate power- it turns red to indicate drive activity.
Just ordered a second set of ORICO racks for our backup server- I'm done with the old style rack/tray system... simply pulling a bare drive out and inserting a new bare drive in is the way to go!

I bought this for my photo & video editing/gaming rig to be used as part of my backup solution. Right after a photo job, I will insert one of my backup HDDs in the tray and make a backup of my files and photos. The power button is a great feature, since it allows me to keep a backup drive in it without the HDD being constantly powered. This tray has also been useful for diagnosing other people's HDDs.

Build quality is fine. The lift tab mechanism for opening and closing the tray does feel a bit on the cheap side, but I don't see myself breaking it. The lock is nice and works well. It's just a hex lock, so if you lose the key no biggie, just find an allen wrench that will work.

Overall, I now can't imagine living without one of these.

Great price and delivered on time. Installed in a couple of minutes. You need to turn on hot swap in the BIOS, and disable Write Caching for that drive in windows or windows will not eject disk...it will show a pop up that say's that the drive is in use, unable to eject. I have turned the drive on/ off a few times(ejecting before turning off ) and it works flawless. The drive inserts easy into bay but it does take a little effort to take the drive out. I like that it has a key to lock the door. Very happy with purchase. would buy again from (focalgadgets) seller.

I needed a form of tray/trayless mobile HDD rack for use in a Dell Optiplex Mini Tower computer to replace an aging custom built one with a KingWin tray system (which worked just great in the older system). Based on the way the Dell Mini Tower is constructed, the swing handle on the older KingWin trays was blocked by the positioning of the rack in the Mini Tower. So it was time to look at other options. I first tried an open frame system like the KingWin Trayless hot swap mobile rack system for my first try. But due to the way the Dell Mini Tower is constructed, and the way the open frame technology uses shock absorbers, there was a lot of "play" is the way the rack was secured.

So I tried the Orico mobile rack. This is a closed frame technology which, in the case of Dell's Mini Towers, provides for a more rigid mounting solving the open frame "play" problem. Additionally the KingWin Trayless rack requires a supplied special cable to make the front panel lights operate, the Orico handles this internally and it easily connects to the Dell power supply.

New for me on the Orico is a power button. Although partially hidden by the Mini Tower frame it is still accessible and functional. Additionally for the latching of the door, the Orico uses a 3.5mm hex key design and provides only 1 key.

Overall the closed frame design of the Orico provides a better functionality for mounting in the Dell Mini Tower.
