I went to the website and only see the question about the problem posted but no answer.

This docking station works very well for it's intended purpose; have not noticed any data transfer issues or dropped connections.

Again within 15-17 min the drive would suddenly disconnect then reconnect, resulting again in an interrupted copy process.

With an older system using USB 2, I've written to a 4 TB disk at roughly 1 GB/minute.

Ability to handle over 2.2 TB should handle 4 TB, provided your computer hardware & drivers cooperate. Old MS drivers may fail; the latest Intel drivers are preferred. Use GPT not MBR disk format. NTFS gave me 3.63 TB usable space. Enabling NTFS compression bought back that 10% overhead for the mostly PDF data I was archiving, so this single disk held 4 TB of data.

Orico appears to be the source for the same units sold by other distributors. Variations on this Orico dock include the following:

6628USC: eSATA + USB2 + clone
6628US3-C: USB3 + clone
6628SUS3-C: eSATA + USB3 + clone
8628SUS3-C: eSATA + USB3 + clone + clone progress indicator

I have a 1TB SATA and a 120GB SSD drive docked in this unit. I use it as overflow storage for downloaded movies.

I have used it to copy an external SATA drive to another SATA drive. It has a button that allows you to create a complete duplicate of an external drive to another. It works exceptionally well. This allowed me to IMAGE one drive to another as a system backup, just in case my PC crashed because of a failing hard drive.

NOTE: If you have 2 different size drives you are copying from one to the other, you may want to create a partition on the one you are copying to (IF it is larger than the drive you are copying FROM). For instance, if the drive you are copying FROM is 1 TB and the drive you are copying TO is 2 TB, just partition the 2 TB drive into 2 partitions, with each partition being 1 TB as the drive you are copying TO MUST BE THE SAME SIZE as the drive you are copying FROM. This is the only way I could get the copy option (button on the back) to work correctly. The drive you are copying TO CANNOT BE SMALLER than the drive you are copying FROM. I hope that is clear.

Other than that, this dock has been invaluable to me.

My review is only about the cloning feature since that is all I bought this for. I had a WD 750GB drive (that had over 730GB used) with so many bad sectors I couldn't even properly repair it and the ETA for the backup was 240 hours. I bought this device in the hopes that I could clone the drive to another drive. As advertised I put the source and target drives in, pressed start and went about my business. About 4 hours later I heard 3 beeps and the unit out the drives to sleep. I pulled the backup and attached it to my Mac and I was able to do a disk repair to restore the file structure. It makes sense that I'd need to do a repair since it make a 100% copy of the failing drive, defects and all. When the repair finished I was able to access the data on my drive with no issues. It couldn't have been any easier and it does work.

The only shortcoming is the manual which is written in broken English and doesn't provide a lot of detail but it did have big pretty pictures and a step by step guide to clone the drive and that is all I needed.

Based on my initial use, I would say this was a purchase that was worth every penny. On a related note I would rate the WD laptop drives 1 star. I have 3 of the same model, one has already had massive drive issues and it was hardly used. The second drive started failing in the past 2 weeks and then 3rd is working but who knows who long it will last. The price may have been good for the WD drives but they aren't worth it.

This docking station works very well for it's intended purpose; have not noticed any data transfer issues or dropped connections.

4 stars for the hard drives going to sleep within 10 minutes which require ~7-10 second delay to wake them up when you need them the most.

So excited about using this product to upgrade my current 80GB HDD to a 250GB solid state. Pulled it out of box and it won't even power up. The power supply shows up with a light, but nothing on the dovice itself. Not cool. Have to return and try and find another option. There goes another couple weeks without being able to upgrade.

This unit is a no brainer to operate. The back has a switch to toggle between duplicate mode and PC mode and has a small start button. The front has the power button. Simple and economical to use.

One nuisance is that there's no progress light so in duplicator mode, you don't know how far from completion or worse yet, don't know if it locked up..

So far I've only used it for basic data transfers to my laptop using a USB 3.0 connector, 2 standard (different) SATA 3.5" drives, and not the other functions, but it works and it's fast.
