I love it because I have more than enough USB 3.0 ports and also a dual internal port for my front panel.

During my research, I found several good and bad reviews on this Orico 7 port USB 3.0 card. I decided, because of the design, I would give it a shot. I read on newegg.com a review by Spector to go to VLI's website ([...]) and download the 1.90A driver for this card. I did this prior to installing the card just in case my HP desktop did not recognize it. I installed the card and just like many others, the card did not install correctly and would not work. I opened up the downloaded zip file and clicked on the set-up of the VL800/VL801 driver and upon completion the card instantly worked! The website does have a newer driver but the download on broadband showed over an hour to download (huge file, even zipped!). The smaller download worked wonders so I have no intention to download the newer larger file. I hope this info helps others as it has help me. I just got it installed, so I will have to post again upon more time lapse with any pros and cons.

Important update Dec 31, 2013:

There is a new listing for this product matching the brand of the delivered product: AITECH PVU3-5O2X 7 Port USB 3.0 PCI - Express Card. It seems the installation issues I described may be resolved now on that new listing. This with the excellent customer support I received from the seller leads me to direct you to the new listing and recommend this card now. My review there has my overall experience with the card and how to easily get drivers if your CD does not work for you.

I'm inclined to support this seller because of their exceptional support to me.

The original review below, but read the update too:

The ORICO PVU3-5O2I Booster USB 3.0 7 Port PCI Express Card is now working fine. Getting to that point was another story. Read on...

When the product arrived it was it was not ORICO branded but the same in the AITECH brand. Functionally identical but it is not confidence inspiring to get something, even identical that is cross branded.

The physical installation was a snap in a Dell T3400 Precision workstation. I did need a 12-Inch Molex 5.25 Male to 5.25 Female DC Power Extension Cable to get the required power connection. Note: The power connection is NOT optional.

When I put the driver mini-CD (3in) into the drive and ran the driver installer on this windows 7 system I got a message the package was corrupt. I had purchased 2 of these so I tried the other one's CD and the same result. Unacceptable.

I went to the usaitech web site after some searching was able to download the driver for this card.

I plugged in the Molex connector and booted my PC up, ran the CD, opened the VLI folder and ran setup.exe. That was it, it was up and running.

Three external 2TB USB 3.0 drives and a 64GB flash drive working flawlessly. (Actually, they all run faster now.)

I first bought an Orico 7-port hub and had compatibility issues with my Asus USB 3.0 card. Since I rate myself very highly on tech level, I knew it couldn’t possibly be my problem. After placing an RMA w/o even contacting Orico, I was almost immediately contacted by someone named Ivan from Orico tech support who really knew his business.

He provided me with specific details about the different chipsets for USB 3.0 hubs and cards and explained the differences to me with regard to my existing board. This new card now happily co-exists with my older 2-port card, not that I need the older one any more.

I have seen previous reviews condemning the tech support from Orico. Take it from me; Ivan was responsive and VERY knowledgeable. THEIR TECH SUPPORT HAS DRAMATICALLY CHANGED FOR THE BETTER. We traded more than 30 emails. They do follow up.

I am about to order the USB 3.0 20-pin to 5 ¼” drive bay adapter.

Ivan (and Orico) definitely have a new dedicated fan.

The ones that come with the card are out of date and buggy. Newer drivers didn't do much, if anything, to improve performance but stability improved quite a bit. The card will now detect most devices without issue when plugged in. I say most and not all because USB3 is probably the buggiest version of USB yet and everyone, including Intel, are having issues with it not quite working right with everything out there.

The card itself is well made and the packaging is OK too. Instructions are a joke since they're all in Mandarin or Taiwanese so unless you can read those languages you're boned. Just google directions on how to install any old PCIe card if you really need directions. Actually putting the hardware in itself isn't much different from card to card, just remember to plug in the 4 pin power cable otherwise the card won't have enough power to operate properly.

The 2 internal USB3 ports are kinda cool but I would've preferred the card have a front case connector on it instead so I could use the case's built in USB3 ports. The instructions list another card that ORICO makes that has this but it wasn't available at the time I bought this card. Here is the amazon link to that card too: ORICO PVU3 5O2I Port USB 3 0

I haven't used it before but going by the pics it appears identical in every way except for having that front panel USB3 connector.

Using my 4TB USB3 Seagate hard drive as the source I copied a 8GB file a few times to my computer across this cards USB3 ports and got around a average of 110MB/s read speeds. The destination drive was a modern SSD so its pretty unlikely there were any bottlenecks there.
