This truly is about one third bigger than the standard Kuerig mesh filter, and that is a significant difference that makes a much better cup of coffee. The stock Kuerig set up, in my opinion, is severely flawed and makes a weak cup not even worth drinking. This filter does not fix the flawed design, but compensates for it by allowing you to use more coffee to make a stronger cup. My tip for a good cup is to use this filter and fill it with very finely ground coffee, like expresso grind. You can very lightly pack it, but too much packing and the water will not be able to flow through it. Then use a paper filter in the bottom of the plastic adapter part that holds the mesh filter. I use simple cup filters. The paper filter prevents fine grounds from getting into your coffee, and it slows the flow rate of water through the machine to allow the coffee to steep longer. I'm actually satisfied with my coffee made this way, and don't need to buy K cups!
