I can't figure out why everyone doesn't LOVE this product. Maybe they didn't read the instructions. Properly positioned, it takes maybe 10 seconds to separate the fruit from the peel. I think the biggest trick is getting the right sized grapefruit to fit the blades perfectly. Too large and you have to dig the overage out. But it's truly a genius product. I never liked to eat grapefruit before because it was too hard to get out. This makes it a breeze. LOVE it! REALLY!

Like several other reviewers on here, I was a bit perplexed when I tried to slice my first grapefruit with the Orka cutter. I thought I had followed the instructions carefully, but I just ended up with a big mushy pile of grapefruit and lots of juice everywhere. But, many reviewers gave this thing four or five stars; what was I doing wrong? It turns out that I was just being too delicate. After you remove the center with the included corer, you have to push the grapefruit ALL the way onto the cutter, to the point where the white plastic tip on the top of the cutter juts out through the center hole that you just created on the grapefruit. Ideally, you might even see the blade start to slice through the outside peel at that point. Once the grapefruit is mounted firmly and securely, just give it a twist and voila! Perfectly sliced grapefruit sections. It really couldn't be easier. So, for those of you who couldn't get it to work, just put a little oomph into it, and get that grapefruit on there nice and tight. Thank goodness it only took one mangled grapefruit for me to figure it out; now I'm on board with all the other positive reviews; this thing ROCKS!

Fantastic Tool,

This is one fantastic gadget! My wife bought me one years ago from a TV ad. It finally broke and my heart broke as well. Now I have finally found it here. I'm buying two in case one breaks or to give to an admiring friend. I would give it 5 stars if it were made of stainless steel and would not break. Nevertheless, it lasted for years! Now I can go back to eating grapefruit daily without any effort or mess.
