5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining and Informative July 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
As in past years, John Siracusa's detailed review is a fun and educational read. A well researched overview which I personally found quite useful. The only thing I would have preferred is an audiobook version. As a longtime listener of John Siracusa's Hypercritical podcast, I can imagine how some details would best delivered in his distinctive voice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extensive July 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
As expected! Siracusa is renowned for his over-analysis of the latest version of OS X, and we all benefit from his neuroticism. We all wait on baited breath for the release, and here it is for Mountain Lion. The best review you will find anywhere. Grab a cup (or two) of coffee and enjoy! It's not an OS X update until there is a Siracusa review.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the wait July 25, 2012

I wait for this more than I wait for the software. It is worth the wait. The insights are precious. John provides so much history and background of things in the OS. This is a nerd's dream - @gluecode

If you love cuddly Mountain Lions and extremely technical reviews of things, then you should probably, definitely read this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great on the iPad now July 26, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book works great on the iPad now. It wasn't John's fault so give the guy a break. I'm about 1/3 of the way in and it's great so far. Witty and humorous writing style.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent July 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
John Siracusa has done it again. I've read the 24 page review on Ars and I'm purchasing it here to support John.

Please note, there are a few 1-star reviews - the issue the they are complaining about has been resolved and was an error on Amazon's part (I hope they reconsider their reviews).

5.0 out of 5 stars The OS X Review To End All Reviews July 25, 2012
By Joel
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
John Siracusa's OS X reviews are, by now, famously detailed, well researched and well written. After having done so for over a decade, each year Apple enthusiasts can look forward to a new review from him on the day of the release of OS X. This review is fantastic and will give anyone who reads it expert-level knowledge of what has changed between Lion and Mountain Lion within the operating system.

Please note: On the first day this review was posted, Amazon.com was giving John and Ars Technica difficulties with this Kindle book working on the iPad. It was entirely Amazon's fault and not John's. Amazon fixed the issue late on the night of the launch day. Any reviewers who left 1 or 2 star reviews claiming that it didn't work on the iPad were mistaken and now should change their reviews. Also, I fail to see how penalizing John's work with a review criticizing Amazon is helpful, or fair.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent balance of exposition and entertainment July 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Siracusa has a rare gift for writing a review that is both factually precise and comprehensive while still being engaging and entertaining. You won't find a better avenue for learning about what is new in Mountain Lion and perhaps more importantly why these changes are important in the broader historical context at Apple.

The review is also delightfully multifaceted. While on the surface it is clear and straightforward, the careful reader is rewarded by dozens of little jokes, references and Easter Eggs that round out the reading experience.

Is there an iPad version?
Yep, same issue. I can have it delivered to my Android or iPhone, but not iPad or Cloud reader. Here's the author's response to this issue on Twitter: https://twitter.com/siracusa/statuses/228258968487739392
