5.0 out of 5 stars Best deal .
I'm a hobbyist amateur and found this to be the best way to own a quality semi hollow body guitar. It has a great tone and fast neck.

The pick-ups and bridge are inconsistantly installed and adjusted from the factory (Indonesia).

I bought 3 and they all need some various professional attention.

Otherwise an excellent bargain.

3.0 out of 5 stars quality control
I've had to send back 3 of these already (scratched pickguard and neck pickup down inside the body) Musician's Friend's policy is to keep shipping out a different one at their expense rather than open the box to see if their stock is defective. I'm waiting on #4 to arrive. The price is right only if you get a good one. Otherwise it's not a good value after paying a...

Well, I am impressed. I was hesitant when seeing some of the bad write ups but figured with Musician's Friend's great service, if it isn't good- send it back. Well, no need to send it back. I got the black one, very classic looking- almost flawless finish(has one tiny white stray mark under the clear but it's on the bottom back). Grover tuners are SILKY and the Washburn humbuckers ROCK! All pots work smooth and static-free(2 tone/2 volume and a three way switch)All hardware was tight and performed great. Intonition is dead on money. I MIGHT run lighter strings next go round(I like .09-.42s). Very nice sound since semi-hollow. I had a $20 off coupon so for under a benji-frank, I have a very nice guitar. Originally, I didn't even LOOK at semi-hollows, I'm young, they look OLD. But THEN, I played an Epiphone Dot Studio and I fell in LOVE with the short string length and easy of playability on the thin neck. And for a lot cheaper, I could get an Oscar-Schmidt- so I did. I got the gig bag too and it was worth the extra. Tweed vintage look with embroidered Oscar Schmidt. If you want a Gibson, GO BUY ONE, don't give this little axe a bad rap because you didn't buy what you really wanted. If you want a cheap playable semi-hollow to diversify your collection, go for it!

5.0 out of 5 stars An Inexpensive Axe To Play The Blues On, December 18, 2004

As you know from my tool reviews I am a magazine columnist who reviews tools for boatbuilding. My other love beside my wife and tools is my music playing. When I became disabled I sold a lot of my guitar collection to pay bills and I thought I would never use them again. When I started playing again I found I needed a good quality guitar that had good resonance to give a little blues flavor. I ordered the OE30 with some trepidation since it was very inexpensive. When I got it the strings were rusted junk but the rest of the guitar was very nice. No neck warp, no uneven frets, good sounding hum buckers and excellent intonation .

This model was made in China and not Indonesia as all the newer OE30's are now. The finish has no flaws at all and the Grover tuners work great. I have heard some very bad reviews of this guitar but I must have received a perfect specimen. When I hook this axe to my big amp and play you would think I could be playing a Gretch or Gibson semi hollow body . In fact the OE30 fits in the Epiphone 335 case that is on sale for very few bucks and it fits perfectly. My suggestion for anyone is to buy this sweet machine but send back any inferior products because they may have some quality control issues and they do have an excellent return policy. Mine is black but for the price I would not mind having a cherry and blue burst model also. Who could have thought that I could buy a great semi hollow body guitar for less than a grand although it does say Delta King on the headstock. Try one or more you will like them!

bought this for a blues guitar...but it plays so well/easy with nines on it its uncanny.Rocks with the best of them and has that humbucker sound. It needed minor setup(truss rod adjustment bridge height)but it makes me smile with every high volume string bend or just crankin out an A minor...mine sounded fine through a practice marshall or cranked through my line 6 live floorpedal and my fender deluxe...outasight....
