very nice looking set. But the drums miss triggers way to much cant get rid of a reverb effect the hi-hat doesn't open or close enough to play, no duel zones in snare so no rim shots or cross sticking. no chock on the crash no bell on the ride maybe ok for a toy but not much for a drummer.

I regret having to write this review. However, I learned a big lesson about buying instruments today. A product like this has to be play tested before it is purchased. The problem is a person can't do that when ordering on line.

I received this item quickly. However, after setting it up and plugging it into my amplification, the tones sounded like they were being played in the bottom of a well or in a huge hall. The echo was very distracting. I could hardly hear the initial tone played by each pad.
I only played on it for about 5 mins before I knew it was not going to function properly with my current set up.

The preset sets were not balanced well. The snares are soft and the toms are very loud and deep. The kick pedal itself is so loud it is hard to hear the tone it is playing. In fact the tones in general are poor. The tones on my present $129.00 set are of a better quality.

In addition, there was a crackling sound being produced by the set no matter what volume it was set at. I had to set the volume quite high to even hear it on my amplification equipment. This improved slightly when I ran the audio from the headphone jack. However, I don't think the set should be designed this way.

I have started the process of returning it. Now I just have to wait to get my money returned.

It is my suggestion that a set needs to be play tested before buying it. The problem is, there are no quality music stores close to home.

My main problem with this kit is that the hi hat is only open, closed, or step on hi hat pedal sound, and that there is no midi out. I don't know why I expected more. Also, for some reason the snare is always to soft, so I have to turn all the other pieces down and turn the snare up all the way. Maybe most real drummers hit the snare really hard all the time. Action on the bass drum pedal is good. No complaints about the hardware. There are a lot of exotic sounds I would not use, but I would have liked some more crash/splash choices. I have recorded audio out and midi through Reaper with EZ drummer. EZ drummer makes the snare a sidestick sound, so until I figure out the whole drum mapping thing, I just select all notes with the same value and drag down to a regular snare. The manual, probably being rather dated, says just plug the midi out into your sequencer. THERE IS NO MIDI IN, so being a novice, I suppose this to mean that for the banks in the drum brain, you can only record audio. Rather than buy Superior Drummer crossgrade to upgrade from EZ, I bought Addictive Drums on a special promotion with the Black Velvet Kit for around $70, and it has a simple drum mapper where you choose the kit piece on the UI, then hit the drum. Drum mapped. EZ drummer still good for sequencing in the piano roll. Loosen a few of the nuts, take off the hi-hat and bass pedal and it will probably fit in your trunk or back seat, without tearing the whole thing down and disconnecting the cords.

this is a great kit to practice in the house. It does makes a loud tapping sound. plus hi hat misses hit which could be annoying. preset tracks sucks. but to prctice and for the price not a bad buy.

I stopped around and stumbled on this kit just before I placed my order. It's great in the apartment and changing from kit to kit is a breeze.

I have been a drummer for a very long time. Unfortunately, life has kept me away from having a set of drums for too long. I bought these just to try to keep my desire to play alive. This is a great alternative to bothering everyone while still rocking out.
For the money, they are great, fun drums. Don't expect them to play like real drums, or even as well as a very expensive set of electronic drums. However, the toms sound great, the bass is responsive and nice, the sound is pretty good. The cymbals leave some to be desired and don't respond as well as I would maybe like. The hi-hat is the worst part of the set. Very unresponsive.
You get what you pay for, but I really get more than what I payed for. I'm having a blast with them.

The idea of having an electric drumset that can fold up into a small size and not be loud is a great plan, especially living in an apartment with other people above, below, and beside you. This drumset folds up reasonably small but is very loud. The heads are on all the drums are plastic. Not only does this make a very loud tapping sound each time you hit (definitely will bother the neighbors on the other side of the wall) but it also doesn't bounce the way a real head does, making it tough to play beyond a beginner level very easily. The drums miss hits regularly, especially the cymbals which is incredibly irritating. The frame is hollow aluminum and is not very sturdy at all. It makes the set light but hit the drums too hard and it is liable to shake all over the place. The screws come loose on their own, the feet come off regularly. The brain/module cannot be programmed with other sounds and the prerecorded sounds really aren't very good. There are a ton of Asian drum sounds that are practically worthless and the practice songs to play along with are AWFUL. Notice that the module DOES have a line out and MIDI input. Great for recording, you say? Not at all. When recording, it is very inconsistent. It will typically pick up and record most hits but you can hit the snare with the same force and it will have different volumes each time. Completely useless. It is a pretty decent price for an electric drumset but unless you're a beginner, it is not something you will want. There are almost no positive things to say about it. I am an intermediate to expert level drummer and had to sell it because it sat around and collected dust. Save your money and at least invest in a similar kit with mesh drum heads. That will at least offer you the benefit of quiet and a more realistic bounce from the head.
