This SPX 3418 OTC Heavy-Duty Reader does just what it claims to do. It works on various different equipment and gives you all the codes you need to fix the problems on the equipment you are working on. Once you have finished your repairs the code reader allows you to clear the codes so the next time you need to work on the same equipment you don't have to worry about the old codes still showing up. The code reader will also provide you with some code definitions right on screen. It also comes with 9 pin and 6 pin cables which allows you to use this heavy-duty reader on a more equipment than if only one cable was provided. I bought this product to read the codes on a class 8 Kenworth truck.
There is codes stored in the computer that I can get with the blink method.
This reader would not see them. I contacted OTC tech support. I got and excuse.
I have a Auto X Ray reader for Cars. Works great. This one looks identical but
made for heavy trucks. Supposedly. Very disappointed

this code reader does not give very much info, i have used on fire trucks,hooks up ok but never seems to explain some of the terms it uses,the booklet is no help at all. seems to work better on the detroit diesel than the cummins. if i were to buy again i would go with the otc 3417 hd for $1200.00
