I ended up purchasing this tool after searching the net for all and any required tools to do my ball joint swap. Many forums show guys making their own version of this tool, and then warning about not pushing the tool to far, or having to travel to machine shops to get the homemade version finished. This tool was worth every dollar vs the time It would have taken to make my own!

A couple hammer taps and the seal was exactlly where it should have been. I would reccommend this tool to anyone thinking on making their own version.

Worked great. Packaged well in a block of styrofoam. Well oiled and bagged. 5lb sledge put some dents in the top of it but no complaints. Worked great and will for its life.

This is a very high quality and heavy duty tool. You can install seals perfectly and easily using this tool and a 3 or 4 pound hammer.

It's solid metal...what can go wrong, it's like making a hammer it either works or it doesn't! I've heard OTC is what "professional" mechanics at dealerships ect. use. I've used it more than a few times already and am happy with the quality. Again not much to say, it has no moving parts so it's like comparing a brick to a umm...brick? you go for the best price...which is here at Amazon!

I ordered this seal installer for my 2005 F250 to use during my ball joint replacement project/adventure. Amazon description shows it as 1998-2005 but directions in box only show to 2004. Called manufacturer. Confirmed this is the wrong tool for my year. Will set seal to incorrect depth when reinstalling. You want the 6697 NOT 6695 if you have a 2005. Return was simple with Amazon and ordered correct tool here. I'm sure this tool is great if you have a 1998-2004 F250. I was very pleased with the 6697 and it worked great (tool is $50, seals are $50, mess up 1 seal and tool is justified in my mind). My main concern with my ball joint job was ensuring that everything was sealed up so my 4WD would work, and it did. Tool worked great worth the money. Made the job simple. Anyone doing this job needs this tool to install seals without runing the new seal on their ford

The OTC seal installer is made of heavy gauge construction without sharp edges. It was well packaged from the factory and came in a sealed bag well oiled and no corrosion. Does it's job of setting proper depth on the knuckle seals perfectly.

OK... took a few mins to get this to set the vaccuum seal on the axle shaft. "HINT" use a big hammer!! Needs that first big hard hit to go on the shoulder, after that tool seal seats correctly on both the axle shaft and the knucle...A must buy tool and pays for itself within the first use...

While kind of expensive, the tool did its job perfectly. In the long run, having the tool will pay for itself by not having to go to a shop to have this type of work done.

The construction of the item is of high quality and I would be amazed if it wore out within my child's lifetime.
