5.0 out of 5 stars Must have for Ford 5.4
This is a MUST have tool for anyone working on Ford 3v 5.4's. The 3 valve 4.6 and 5.4 engines the spark plugs will easily break off inside the head. It is vital that the Ford spark plug removal procedures be followed exactly. This includes allowing time for the cleaner to work. Take your time and work the old plugs 1/8th turn back and forth while not exceeding 35 ft/lbs. If more force is required, allow more time for the cleaner to do its job. Trust me. It is easier than removing the broken tip.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here's a Tip, November 25, 2009

Here's a tip, do yourself a big favor and get Kano - Aerokroil Penetrating Oil and spray the plugs a couple of times before trying to remove them. This stuff will save your butt! My neighbor has a F-150 with the 100,000 mile plugs and he was having fits trying to get them out. A couple of sprays, a couple hours of waiting and out they came.

I fell for everything I read about needing this specific spark plug socket when in there isn't anything special about it. It is basically a 9/16 spark plug socket with about a 4" extension permanently attached.

I was glad I had it because sometimes I did need the extra extension that I had, but all in all I probably could have saved my money and managed with my 9/16 spark plug socket and a separate extension which I already had.

If you don't have 9/16 spark plug socket and an extension this is a good tool to buy, however if you already have both then I would save my money.

5.0 out of 5 stars 6900 spark plug socket, April 27, 2009

This socket is a must have for removing spark plugs, it was superior to the regular 9/16 socket in keeping a stable removal of my plugs. The one piece design with the built in extension was very useful. This socket is the only tool that I will use to remove the two piece spark plugs in my mustang, which are prone to breakage. This tool is a must have if you have a ford, 2005 to early 2008 swith the 4.6 , 5.4 engine.

Before finding this product I had to modify a deep socket to change plugs. I changed the plugs now with no worries of losing socket in the block.

5.0 out of 5 stars The right tool for the job, June 8, 2009

Although I own a Mustang with the 4.6L motor, and not an F-150 as described in the product description, this is the perfect tool to remove any of the 9/16" spark plugs from your Ford. The built in extension is a great lenght to reach down into the wells and get onto the spark plug. The rubber insert held the spark plug perfectly when it was removed from the motor. I had no trouble using a torque wrench with this spark plug socket when putting the new spark plugs in the motor. I highly recommend using this socket over that of just using a deep wall 9/16" socket and separate extension that most people already have in their toolbox.

I would recommend this tool to anyone. Just because the extension is made to the socket. The back two plugs on the passenger side were a royal pain and I sure am happy the extension didn't come off it. But do you "need" it. No you don't you can use a regular socket and extension, and some needle nose pliers.

2.0 out of 5 stars not worth the money, October 6, 2011

a spark plug socket is supposed to fit the top of the spark plug snug so you can safley place or take it out of the engine. The rubber insert either fell out or just didnt work. i had to pull the plugs ot with a needle nose. i just boght a 9/16 spark plug socket for 3 bucks and used my own extension. i would have been happy with the product if it had a better rubber insert or if it used magnets to hold the plug in.

I would not want to do a spark plug change on these Ford F150 model years without it, a must have! Worked great.
