5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for 2007 Fusion
This filter wrench works great for my 2007 Ford Fusion. The Fusion has absolutely no space around the filter since it is recessed up a few inches and I used to spend 20 minutes busting my knuckles trying to get channel lock pliers to grip. Regarding the user who said it doesn't have space for allen wrench to get in, well that's because it's not needed to remove the filter...

1.0 out of 5 stars baffled
The oil filter wrench I bought does not work for a Mazda 2.3L engine as advertized. There is no accommodation for an allen wrench which removes the oil casing. I would like to return it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for 2007 Fusion, March 19, 2009
This review is from: OTC 6903 2.3L Oil Filter Wrench Socket for Ford/Mazda (Automotive)
This filter wrench works great for my 2007 Ford Fusion. The Fusion has absolutely no space around the filter since it is recessed up a few inches and I used to spend 20 minutes busting my knuckles trying to get channel lock pliers to grip. Regarding the user who said it doesn't have space for allen wrench to get in, well that's because it's not needed to remove the filter cap. The allen wrench merely removes the small drain plug in the cap to let the oil drain out before you pull the whole cap off. You remove the drain plug first and let it empty, then use this wrench to remove the black plastic cap to change the filter cartridge. I tried using standard size filter wrenches but the only ones stocked locally are 15 flutes which won't fit the 2.3l cap. Overall this has been a great time saver.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Fit !!!, April 28, 2010

Part works like a charm to remove the oil filter on a 2008 Mazda 6 4cyl car. I've tried other plastic tools from various retailers and they have been either too small, too big or slip off...this one fits the perfect.
Like the other reviews say... you still have to use a 6mm Allen key to remove the plug from the plastic housing and let the oil drain out before using this tool to remove the plastic housing and get to the internal oil filter (cartridge style). Great product, highly recommended!!!

This product worked great and the price was good too! I was surprised that I could not get this item from the local auto parts stores or from the local Ford dealers either. One local product was made out of plastic and .5mm larger. I tried it hoping for the best but, it didn't work at all. This oil filter socket is well made (metal) and will last forever.

Don't change your Mazda5 oil filter without one of these. It fits the filter housing perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Only way to properly do a 2.3L oil change., September 17, 2010

I bought this for use on a 2008 Ford Fusion with the 2.3L engine, and cartridge filter. I could not find this size anywhere, and it seems rather specific. Perhaps other manufacturers use this size as well. The price wasn't overly expensive considering the tool is made of metal. It fits perfectly, and allows for a much easier filter change. Ratchets and extensions fit easily, but won't fall out. Overall very good.

Like the title says, this is the filter wrench/cap you need if you have a canister type filter on a Mazda5.
Fits perfectly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Dead on fit, September 8, 2008

When all the local auto retailers sell you plastic mold sockets that can be cracked (I've broken two) this little guy stands out in two ways - it's a dead on fit and because it's made of metal, it doesn't absorb oil at all. Unlike the plastic sockets that become somewhat slick after many uses, a quick soap and wash bring this little guy's original grip right back. Additionally, it doesn't wear nearly as easily. Good investment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Right tool for the job, December 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: OTC 6903 2.3L Oil Filter Wrench Socket for Ford/Mazda (Automotive)
I bought this filter wrench to remove the filter cap from my 2006 Mazdaspeed6. The car uses and "element type" filter and there is a cap that holds it in place. This was my first oil change after buying the car used, and whomever did the last service must've used an impact gun to tighten it down - same for the drain plug in the oil pan. Crazy what people do when it's not their own vehicle. I was unable to move the cap with my "plier type" oil filter wrench and I didn't have a strap wrench, so I don't know if that would've worked. Anyway, the OTC 6903 filter wrench fit as it should and once I was able to get the right amount of contact and purchase on the filter cap I was able to turn it relatively easily. I'm not a big fan of vehicle-specific tools, and I wish the manufacturers wouldn't make parts that can't be removed with "common" tools, but since we haven't reached that utopia yet, it pays to have the right tools for the job.
