When I ordered this product I paid extra for rush shipment but it turns that this "tool" is poorly designed and was a complete waste of my time. As you turn the spreading screw the tool starts to slip from between the brake pads. The handle attached to the spreading screw is just too short and you will never get enough leverage to spread your break pads apart. After fumbling with this "tool" and becoming thoroughly frustrated, I threw it aside, grabbed a large screwdriver and was able to compress my break pistons with relative ease.
I had actually considered purchasing other OTC products, but after dealing with this tool its doubtful. Hey if your selling a tool as a break pad spreader why not test it make sure it can actually do the job. This is a simple tool and it should have worked as intended.

Just used these last night, worked like a charm to compress the pistons back into their bores.

This is a good, cheap, and simple tool that does away with make shift C-clamps and pry bar spreaders to push disc brake caliper pistons back into the caliper without risk of damage to piston seals.

Like the title says. Real simple tool that works on almost any brake calipers. Takes very, very little effort to push back the pistons. Doesn't take up much space in your toolbox, unlike all of those other pad spreading, piston pushing tools. Well worth the price.

I picked this up because I'm constantly switching street and track pads out of the four piston after market calipers I have on my fronts. Compressing the pistons on these has always been a major pain in the neck, and this works better than anything else I've used thus far.

It's a quality, very solid tool; not at all flimsy. I really like the scissor design . . . it's simple and effective - much more so than a ratchet style spreader I bought (absolutely worthless). It is important to be very precise with the way you position it since the spreaders themselves are rather narrow and it's easy to compress the pistons unevenly if you are not careful.

My only criticism is the size of the handle that you twist to expand the tool. It's just a little too small to provide the leverage that's sometimes needed. This is easily remedied by slipping a small pipe over the end of the handle.

Overall I'm very satisfied. Glad I bought it.

Item costs more than you probably wish to spend, but it has a good build quality and works very well. Definitely worth the extra cost.

good strong spreader, gets really small to fit between pads. perfect for when you are just refinishing rotors and leaving pads in place.
