I have been very impressed with this otoscope. It is well made and gives a very clear picture of the eardrum. It works every bit as well as the old Welch Allan my brother gave me. The disposable specula thing is also nice since it allows me to use the same type of specula my doctor uses in his office and can be thrown away when done. Great customer service as well when it came to answering any questions I had after my purchase.

Warning to all considering purchasing this item. Don't! Currently I purchased one of these units labeled "professional otoscope / ophthalmoscope". These units can be found under similar names on the internet as well as other sites. They are all the same as I found out when others in my class had the same units. They are all the same quality and visualization with these units is extremely poor. The uses very cheap attachable heads that are far too big for the ear. When visualizing the tympanic membrane, the magnification glass is not gauged correctly and causes a tunneling effect. To explain, instead of magnifying the end of the otoscope (where you are looking), it magnifies the entire tunnel, causing it to look like you are looking from a FAR distance away and you can barely see anything at all.

The ophthalmascope on the other hand....Well, it may say 3.5v, but it is more dim than the 2.5v welch allyn or ADC brands out there. Also the light is not adjustable in size. It has one size, LARGE, this makes for poor visualization of the optic nerve and vessels. You can get a red reflex, but barely. The light is too large and too dim for much of anything.

I suggest investing in something a little more expensive, there are some less expensive portable units made for companies such as welch allyn that are better priced. These units also hold their resale value.

My suggestion, buyer beware, these are not as they are described. There are several reviews that appear very fake. A physician, NP or PA would not use a unit like this. Students, for learning, find something you can actually see out of to learn from.

I have been very impressed with my purchase. This is a really nice professional style ear scope. The light is very bright and what you see in the ear is very clear. I could not be happier. I even took it with me to my pediatricians office and he was impressed with how well it worked. The only problem I had with it was that I dropped it 2 weeks after receiving it and the light went dim for about a week and then went out completely. I was though able to purchase another bulb from the company and it has been working well for the past 6 months.

I bought this for my daughter who had many ear infections and it worked great. It is heavy duty and a great value for the money. It was as good a quality otoscope as the ones I used in nursing school. Highly recommended

Unfortunately my daughter gets ear infections very often. This product lenses and light are great, makes extremely easy to check her ear channel whenever we consider it without the need of visiting the pediatrician all the time.

I have been searching for a decent ear scope so that I could check my childrens ears before I had to pay the doctor to look at them - just to tell me there wasn't an infection. Now I can check to see if we need to go to the doctor or not. Also, it comes in handle for other things. I found a tiny sliver of glass in my friends hand that she could feel - but couldn't see it. That scope found it and then we were able to get it out. I love it. Excellent quality for a great price.

This tool has been invaluable to us. We have avoided numerous doctors visits. Our son pulls at his ears when he is teething and when combined with the fussiness, one would believe he was having ear pain. A great investment.

Highly recommend practicing on adults and older siblings (if possible) before trying on an infant.

My toddler twins have been prone to ear infections. I purchase this otoscope set in hopes of checking their ears at home so I wasn't running to the doctor every week to check if the whining wasn't yet another ear infection. It is easy to use and the view within the ear is very clear. My pediatrician (who showed me how to use it) was also very impressed!

This is a very well built and functional otoscope for office use. I priced a new Welch Allyn model recently and developed a case of sticker shock. I went looking for something less expensive and this is what I found. I was a bit skeptical at first due to the low price but after receiving it I could not be happier with my purchase. My only complaint was that initially I could not use disposable specula until I found a connector device available on the companies website. It was only 10 bucks but I learned after I ordered this one on Amazon I could have ordered the same otoscope complete with the adapter for the same price there.Overall it is still a really good bargain for the price I paid.

Very high quality set. I've purchased 3 less expensive otoscopes in the past year that either broke or were no good. I wish I would had just spent a little extra money the first time and bought this one. My son had tubes about a year ago from frequent ear infections.
