I edit and print my own photos and this light is a big help in analyzing the color.

One of the best lights I've ever had. Owned for over 10 years and only had to replace bulb once. When bulb went out I called Ott-lite customer service and they got me a replacement ASAP. I think Ott-Lite has the best customer service department, they are so knowledgeable, professional and just wonderful to deal with. Thanks Ott-lite.

I do alot of closeup art/craft work. The Ott-Lite is great for helping me work comfortably on detailed pieces and finishing work. Now that I have it, I can't do without it. When I get a magnifier to go with it, it will be a 5 star product.

Buyer Beware of possible defects:
This unit arrived at my home in a box that was not damaged and there was no visible damage to the exterior of the unit. I was initially very impressed with this heavy metal lamp...until I opened it......When I opened the light, small piece of plastic began to fall out. While the light itself is made of very sturdy metal and is quite heavy and well made, the socket the bulb fits into is made from VERY brittle and cheap plastic that appears to have literally sheared away or fallen apart. I would have expected a ceramic socket on something this nice or at the very least a heavy plastic socket.
This important part is no where near the quality of the rest of the lamp.

The issue here is not just the lamp but an expensive return to seller. After I ship this thing back, I'll find out if they charge me for shipping and let you know how much it costs me to end up with NO lamp!! From what I read of this company's return policy, they subtract the initial shipping from your refund if you send it back. That would mean I'd have to pay shipping both ways and end up with no product.

I did a little research and have noticed these lamps are suddenly being offered at 50% off by a local vendor listed on the Ott-lite website. Recent negative reviews on the web are complaining about cheap parts on a variety of these lamps and that may be the reason. Folks who bought this light early on may have a very different experience than those of us who are buying it now. Looks like a good company overcome by greed or perhaps sold to a third rate corporation. I would recommend buying this lamp locally (if at all) and carefully inspecting the light socket at the store for cracks of any kind.

UPDATE: If you buy this lamp and have to ship it back DO NOT CALL THEM. You will get their normal return department which will tell you to mail it back..That cost me nearly $9. I had also emailed the vendor and the owner responded and offered free UPS return and replacement...but it was too late. If I had known that I could send it back and get another for free I would have done so. He gave me full credit on the purchase and didn't charge shipping but since I'd already spend the $9 I was out that amount. He did offer me a credit toward another purchase.

I read a review of this OTT Lite explaining the benefits of full-spectrum lighting. I also purchased a book - Light: Medicine of the Future: How We Can Use It to Heal Ourselves NOW - which explains the medical benefits of an OTT (full-spectrum) light. I was intrigued. I purchased this light one month ago and use it at work for reading.

No more eye-strain. No more fatigue. People comment on the enhanced color in my office. It truly is a treat for your eyes.

I've used this light for years - I don't even need my glasses to read when using this light. It's amazing how well the correct light makes so much difference. Especially sewing and reading books. This is so portable, you can take it easily - - anywhere.

I hate crappy lamps. I bought this one at Office Depot, and as soon as I turned it on it was like wow! Feels full spectrum, it's really bright, lights up my workspace. I actually bought the model called Executive Desk Lamp, but all of the Ott-Lite lamps are freakin' great.

BE WARNED- what I received was not a true color lamp, but the HD lamp (which is not true color.) Yes, I agree that the true color Ott Lite is awesome, but do not attempt to purchase it from this seller.

I was so happy when I got one of these lamps that I couldn't wait to try it! When I brought it home, I plugged it in and started working on my jewelry until I started noticing something...it was giving off a strobe effect. That is a MAJOR problem for me since I'm an epileptic. I called the company about it and they said that I was just sensitive to the light (and this was said AFTER I explained my condition & that strobes could start seizures). So I gave that one to a friend & bought another one with hopes of no strobes. It did the same thing! I changed the bulbs twice...SAME THING! I still have the second one & I use it sparingly however, I'm about to give it to someone else now. I'm tired of paying so much for a lamp & NOT being able to use it! >:(
UGH!!! *grrr*

im a nail tech and this lamp is great for my job and is really cheap here
