This is an amazing product. I do not own a pet, but have a 9yr old who recently developed a bed wetting habit and who often falls asleep on the sofa...which of course does not have removable cushions or covers that can be washed. I had tried everything..including small shampooers..but nothing was really able to get that tell-tell odor of urine out of the cushions, and even used bleach based cleaners on the mattress, which also left a faint urine smell behind. However, this took care of everything...almost immediately! It has a very pleasant, light aroma, and a little goes a long way. I have treated both the sofa and her bed completely, and have used only about 1/5 of the bottle. Within a few hours the urine smell was gone..and now I can have company over again without the worry :)

As one of my cats tends to be troublesome and doesn't always seem to find the litter box when she needs it... I spent a TON of time hunting for the best cleaner for cat urine stains. After reading countless reviews I purchased a few different cleaners, and this one is very good! Both odor and stain practically vanish when you spray it one the area, a tiny bit of scrubbing and it is completely gone - for good!

If you have trouble with cat urine stains, this product is great!

EDIT: Upon further use and review, I have found the smell of this product itself to be too strong for my liking. While it does its job well, I prefer some other products that do not have as much of a perfume scent. My long term favorite and most recommended stain and odor remover has to be Nature's Miracle.

When I first started buying this about 2 1/2 years ago, it was called Out! NATURAL stain and odor remover, and the formula was a bit different. It smelled like lemongrass. I REALLY miss that, the scent was fantastic. I still have the old bottle, and the ingredients are as follows: Purified water, corn based ethanol, non-pathogenic bacteria, natural enzymes, mild vegetable cleansing blend, preservative and natural lemon grass fragrance. I had stocked up previously, so I just ran out of the old formula. Not sure when they changed it (or why), but I just recently bought the new one. This one smells faintly of cherries, I think.

I originally picked this up in a retail store for my puppy, but no longer need it for house-training. Worked wonderfully for that, though. My dog wouldn't potty in the same spots from urine odor. I still buy it for a spot treatment for my laundry, because it's a great stain remover. It also eliminates odors/stains in garments I hand wash, and doesn't harm delicate fabrics. It's the only store-bought "stain remover" I use. I also like to use it as a fabric refresher, the same way one would use "febreeze", except it isn't loaded with chemicals that trigger migraines for me!

This seems to work the same as the old formula, so I'll continue to buy. I'll just try adding lemongrass essential oil to it, and hope it smells as nice as the old stuff!

I first purchased this product years ago; there was only one version available, it was pretty darn good. We had a cat that developed a gall bladder stone and required surgery, we noticed the problem because he peed outside the litter box and it was pink indicating blood. Everything turned out good, that was 7 years ago, but unfortunately his peeing a couple days triggered a territorial response in our other male cat and he started marking territory all over the house. This product helped us to clean and deodorize the urine and territorial marking spray that ensued. Nowadays there are several different products available from the same company, but I purchase the one with bacterial enzyme, as had the original, and I am happy with the results. One thing I noticed is that it is still under $5 for 32oz at Walmart and the 64oz refill is under $10 - more expensive than it used to be but much cheaper than on Amazon. Now I am a huge fan and customer of Amazon but, in this particular case, seems it's not the best price location to purchase this product.

This stuff really works on cat urine and spray. A friend visited with her cat, and it sprayed my couches, curtains, doors, etc. After she left, my cat started to spray in those areas. It was awful! I was looking online for a solution and found Out. At that time, it was sold by my local WalMart, but it no longer is sold in this 64 ounce size. Yay, Amazon! The first time I used Out, I made a mistake by cleaning with bleach and 409, then I used Out while the surfaces were still wet. It didn't work - I smelled the cleaner, but I could still smell the urine/spray odor. Only use the Out after you have cleaned the surface then rinsed the cleaner and let it dry. Next, saturate the area with Out and let dry. Oh, one warning about buying this product. There is a similar product by Out for hard surfaces, but it DOES NOT WORK nearly as well. It lacks the enzymes (I think) that get rid of the odor. Good luck!

I have four cats and an 11-month-old Rottweiler. Having pets means, unfortunately, that sometimes there are messes to clean up. I ran out of the orange variety of this spray and decided to try the regular (i.e., non-orange-scented) kind.

I am happy to report that this spray works equally well to clean up pet messes and remove pet odors from carpet. I've used it to clean up cat vomit twice (once fresh and once older and dried up), and it worked very well on both. There's no stain on my carpet from either. Last weekend, my dog had an accident in the house (an 80 pound dog can hold a lot of urine), and after soaking up most of it with paper towels, I used this spray on that, as well. There's no lingering smell from the urine, so I'm happy.

The best way I've found to use this product is to clean up as much of the stain as possible, either by using paper towels to absorb it or by picking the majority of the mess up, if it's a hairball or something similar. Then I spray the area to be cleaned pretty thoroughly. You can tell you've gotten the whole area because this stain remover contains hydrogen peroxide, which bubbles when it contacts the material causing the stain. Depending on what I think the severity of the stain will be, I then let this sit for awhile and wipe it up. (The carpet may take a day or two to dry, afterwards, depending on how much of the spray you have to use.) For the dog urine, I repeated the process a second time, though I doubt it was necessary.

I have used this on two types of carpet, one more expensive with a looser weave, and one that was pretty cheap but tightly woven. It worked on both, and both retained their color.
