Wanted: A game with a skillset that can be dumb (as well as sexy),

I originally picked up this game having watched G4tv's "Video Vixens" -- I must admit, their marketing-journalism got to me. I wanted to try a game that was a bit sexy as well as funny. I never played a golf game before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I thought, worth trying something new. I found the game to be quite addictive but not for the reasons G4tv led me to believe. OG2 is utterly maddening. Since I'm not a golfer (or game golfer), it took me about a week to get comfortable with the game functions -- after that, I found myself playing close to PAR on the course. I think that's a pretty good achievement. Unlike the other reviewer here, I found the putting system to be do-able. The difficulty with the game is that there is no margin for error, and thus, no margin for success. I've played the same course, over and over, versus the computer's first opponent persona "Killer Miller" and he...always...beats me. There is no way to change the AI skillset to at least allow you to edge out the AI. As a result, the game leaves me very bitter. Perhaps I am imagining it, but I swear that at times, I am _not_ making a hook as I tee off, but the ball hooks anyway -- often at times which pulls me back from the lead over the computer. Things like that, and the inability to dumb down the computer a bit -- have made me abandon the game. I turn off the sexy bits (which originally lured me to buy the game) because I want to get through the game as quickly as I can!!! The game has other drawbacks -- the load times are stupid long. It's unbelievable how much loading goes on in an average hour's worth of gameplay (one "tour" course). The game has a funny, edgy sense of humor -- the soundtrack is fun -- but the lack of control over the computer skillset ultimately made me walk away from the game, throwing my PS2 Controller down (instead of my putter). G4tv, you didn't tell me playing the game was an S&M experience!

Would be great, except...,

The bottom line is that this golf game "with attitude" would be fantastic if it weren't for the putting aspect. Compared to Tiger Woods PGA 2004/2005 the putting is much more difficult. That's not to say it's easy on Tiger Woods, however it is achievable and, with practice, one gets better. In contrast, I have found the putting in Outlaw Golf to be utterly frustrating, and I haven't improved all that much. It is holding my progress in the game back, and I am really ready to stop playing. It's really too bad because I think the game is otherwise great--characters, graphics, courses, and sounds. I am a big fan of Dave Atell, and his commentary perfectly suits the game. My only other complaint would be occasionally slow load times. Given the fact that this game is cheap, less than $20.00, I think it is worth it. I, however, hope to someday see an Outlaw Golf 3 with an improved putting interface.

Had Outlaw golf for the PC. Decided to get it for the PS3 (backward compatible) version. Enjoy golf a bit on the adult side. It is really fun, and plays like the big games do. Always a chalange with son in law. We enjoy it and still play on the serious side. Totally fun and easy to learn. Still have to make the shots.
