The video is outstanding, and it leaves me wanting for it to be much longer. Watching it is an experience of self-realization. Yes, that's me. Yes, that's me, too. Yes...

1.0 out of 5 stars Very superficial
I've only recently begun investigating ADD and still I foundthis video to be extremely superficial and hardly worth the price. I can't see that it would be useful for anyone since the profiles are so brief and do not give the viewer any sense of what ADD looks and feels like. My advice would be "to save your money". I regret that I spent mine. END

5.0 out of 5 stars Yes! This is me and my life!, September 12, 2003

The video is outstanding, and it leaves me wanting for it to be much longer. Watching it is an experience of self-realization. Yes, that's me. Yes, that's me, too. Yes...

Yes, my wife "doesn't understand me" and charges me with being passive-aggressive, as once mentioned in the video. Yes, I've made my family deeply angry and hurt them, as the son did in the video. Yes, I have always felt my life is a fraud and I am faking everything, as the principal describes hers. Yes, procrastination and the inability to finish things has crippled my life, as mentioned. Yes, I am overwhelmed by paperwork. Yes, I spend inordinate efforts at self-organization; and to little avail. Yes, virtually everything in life is experienced as unmanageable, as described. Yes, the existential actuality of my life is totally different from how other people perceive me. This video hits it all. I only wish it were longer.

The only part I did not identify with was the supposedly hard-driving, successful entrepreneur who tries to say that ADD is a wonderful gift and the basis for his success. I think he is doing a self-promoting con job on us. He is just marketing himself! He'd not be self-identified as ADD if he thought having ADD was so great. Buddy, as Will says, "thou dost protest too much."

This is a video that has been a self-revelation to me. It is also one I can pass to a few people who care about me, to help them understand what my life is like from the inside.

Adult actor Mariette Hartley, who has been diagnosed with ADD/ ADHD (attention deficit disorder/attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), hosts this exceptionally well produced survey of ADD/ ADHD in adults. Such treatment options as prescription medicines, professional therapy, and lifestyle changes offer hope for those afflicted with this genetic neurobiologic disorder. Interviews with ADD/ADHD sufferers, family members, and medical experts detail symptoms, resultant behaviors, and effects. Hartley periodically summarizes key points and helps ease subject transitions. With superb editing, pacing, and topic coverage, this informative program is highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Helpul Video, May 29, 2002

This review is from: "OUTSIDE IN"-A Look At Adults With Attention Deficit Disorder [VHS] (VHS Tape)
This video is a little short, but definitely worth your time and money. I have two children who have been diagnosed with ADD and seeing this video gives my wife and I more hope than we have ever had. This is a misunderstood disorder and the more information and the more mainstream we make this to the general public the better served everyone is. Good ahead and make the purchase it's only 30 bucks and you and your family can benefit from this a lot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, an accurate, upbeat video about adult ADD, October 19, 1999
This review is from: "OUTSIDE IN"-A Look At Adults With Attention Deficit Disorder [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Outside In made me think, laugh and cry. Finally, someone has produced a video that depicts ADD with intelligence, humor and most of all, hope. The experts present the facts about adult ADD, and the "real people" discuss their challenges and successes.

This is a fantastic film. ADD is so prevalent in society, yet it never receives much recognition in the press. This film presents a realistic view of adults with ADD. I cannot praise this film enough. This is a must see.

This review is from: "OUTSIDE IN"-A Look At Adults With Attention Deficit Disorder [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Finally, a film that depicts the reality of living with adult ADD. Sensitively written and produced, "Outside In" shows the life and times of real people living with this real "disorder". As a clinician working with adults with attention deficit, this is a "must have" for all who are touched by ADD.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: "OUTSIDE IN"-A Look At Adults With Attention Deficit Disorder [VHS] (VHS Tape)
I was hoping that this was a starting point for information about real people with ADD and to gain some insight into what I suspect is "ailing" my 19 year old son. This video doesn't go far enough for the price. I was very disappointed with it.
