Maine Genealogical Society Special Pub No 16. 352 pp. 15,178 entry Every Name Index. 1993.
Oxford County was incorporated in 1805 as the seventh county in Maine. Located in the southwestern part of the state, a large part of the county was lost to Franklin County in 1838, and two towns now in Androscoggin County in 1854. Marriage returns began to be recorded in 1830 with some from 1802-1829 recorded sporadically. If you are working on the Oxford County area of Maine, or the adjacent counties of Franklin, Androscoggin, Cumberland and York you definitely need this book.
