Fantastic product, had it for less than 2 months, one of the four candela is already not working. Either they should make a better product or allow people to purchase one or replace the defective one

The Candela line from OXO couldn't be easier to use, or look more at home from the dining room table to the patio, bedroom or bathroom.

Their soft glow is pleasing and surprisingly powerful. Two of these lights can offer just the right amount of mood lighting at dinner, adding a sophisticated and subtle touch to your table.

In the evening my Candela set often follows me around, great at adding a little extra light in a dark room while watching movies, or as a nightlight in the bathroom or on top of the dresser.

They have an easy on/off button on the bottom of each light, but will show off their ingenuity once more if you let them... automatically turning on when you pull them off of their charging base, and turning off when you put them back... a simple design, but very useful.

In the Northwest where power outages are frequent, this function is a life saver, as the lights will turn themselves on when power fails, and illuminate your way to their charging base where you can distribute them around the house.

They also make for a fun and unique gift, although I must admit that I held on to a set I was planning on gifting, because the idea of having one set upstairs and one downstairs was just too good to pass up.

These were great little lights, but they all stopped turning on in about 1 year. When placed on the charging base, they all flicker very quickly but no longer charge. We will see if Oxo stands by their products, as I have asked them for replacement batteries.

candela is great! we use it instead of candles here in our apartment so we don't burn down the place. i've left it on before going to sleep, and when i woke up it was still lit... i love candles but am somewhat hesitant to use them since i have a tendency to knock things over. candelas have been the perfect solution since they're pretty durable and give off the same amount of light i'd be getting w/ a candle. great for dinner parties and power outages too! definitely a keeper.

I had the same experience as the people who stated it stopped working after a short time. I fully charged them when I bought them, and then turned them on until they ran out, which you are supposed to do with rechargable batteries initially so they work well, and then I charged them and used them during a nighttime power outage a couple of weeks later. Then I left them to charge for the next time I needed them. I noticed after about a month that they no longer came on when I pulled them out of the holder, and when I pressed the power button, they flickered but did not stay on. One stays on in the holder and goes off when I take it out. I bought 2 sets and none work. I called Oxo and they said I could buy more batteries. I just don't see the point as they will probably stop working too. A shame as Oxo products are usually good. I'm going to buy some cheaper battery operated candles for my various candle holders - and probably not buy more rechargable ones.

We love these lights. You can read other reviews about the great charging base. I'm focusing this review on the battery life. We've had a set of these for almost a year now, and I just ordered my first set of replacement batteries.

We use the units every night as night lights around the house, and for the past 3 months, they've quit making it through the night. I checked the OXO website and they offer replacement batteries.

I called to see if I could get them replaced under warranty, but the batteries must not hold any charge to qualify for replacement batteries. They do recommend replacing the batteries once a year.

I ordered the four replacement batteries for a little less than thirty dollars (including shipping).

I bought these for my new house and was so excited to put them on my patio but two of them do not work. They just flicker on and off and then die. The other two are perfect and I love them but for the price I expected much more.

I've always been a fan of OXO products, so when I saw these, it was easy to see the value in these as well. They are always well designed, well thought out and well manufactured. However, after Hurricane Ike struck Ohio with such a fervor, I was a fan forever. These were true life savers. We had no power (or water) for 5+ days. The "candels" lasted the entire week!! They provided enough light to see my way through a room and actually be in a room without feeling lost in the dark. They are easy to use, look nice even on the charging tray, and work well in any decor (if you can see the decor!) Highly recommend!!

I've tried various replacements for candles. Most either didn't put out enough light, looked fake, or ate through batteries like there's no tomorrow. These lights are expensive, but well worth the price.

The candles themselves are small, and can fit in some larger votives (In other words, they're a bit bigger than tea candles, but not /too/ big). They give out a good amount of light; perhaps a tiny bit brighter than an actual candle. What amazes me about these lights are how long they last. The package says about 8 hours, but I've seen it go past the 12 hour mark. I usually leave these on overnight as a night light, and I've probably already saved 10 bucks just because I don't have to replace batteries. Also, like other reviewers have said they turn on in an event of a power outage, making them really easy to find in the dark.

One thing to keep in mind is they don't flicker, and if you're absolutely dead set on flickering then you'll be disappointed. In all honesty though, their glow is so charming I find I don't really miss the flickering aspect all that much. Get these.

The OXO Candela lights were going to be used to add some ambient lighting. We bought these because judging by the photo that they look very much like a real candle. As far a quality goes, they seem to work nicely. But if you are looking to replace harmful Paraffin wax candles in your home with something that looks like a candle don't get these. The photo is extremely deceiving and look nothing close to a real candle. The candela light don't even look open at the top, where in the photo they do. There is a slight indent nothing more. For the price, I was expecting to have some that not only worked well but looked like a real candle.
