We bought these Oxo Candela Glow sets for our kids' rooms.

The concept is great: a soft light that is easy to move around a room, stays lit all night, and is rechargeable saving you $ on batteries. We loved these at first exactly for those reasons but quickly became disappointed in the product.

First the pros:
- Rechargable batteries *should* make it cost effective in the long run
- Soft warm yellow glow that illuminates a small area very similar to a candle
- Does not heat up
- The company provides excellent customer support

Cons:
- The rechargable batteries do not hold a charge for very long. 50% of the batteries in our products held a charge for about 2 hours after about 1 months worth of use only at night. We followed the product instructions to the letter.
- Replacement batteries are apparently failing now as well after about 2 months worth of use since about 75% of the products don't hold a charge for more than 2 hours now.

We contacted the makers of Oxo Candela Glow Lights who were very polite and sent us replacement batteries at no cost and with no argument after the first battery failures. While I really appreciate good customer service it just can't make up for a poor product because sadly within another couple months we have more lights not holding a charge for very long. I may call the manufacturer again for replacement batteries but its aggravating to have to do it and I doubt they will send us replacement batteries indefinitely.

I would not recommend this product.

Despite the negative review posted about this product only lasting 3 months, we have several of these that are still going after one year!
A great substitute for open flame candles to create mood lighting in any room. Especially useful during power outages, in our rural community. The Candela lights come on automatically when the power goes out. Then they are portable and much safer than carrying candles around a dark house. We have found the light stays on for up to 8 hours before needing to be recharged. Another great product from OXO.

I purchased these for camping and they never made it out to camp. I fell in love with them for home! I use mine to read with in bed so I don't disturb my husband. It works great to read by, and comes in handy to get up and walk around the house without turning lights on at night! It's great! Plus I always have one in the charger, so I never have to search for battery charged reading light!

I loved these so much that I bought them for all my relatives. They're perfect for people who live in areas where the power goes out from electrical storms or snow because as soon as the power goes out, these things light up so you can find them. Love them! I even bought the kids versions for my daughter. They make great nightlights. They come in different colors and cute shapes for kids. And they can put them wherever they want. Right next to bed, in their "forts", and they're great for their friends that sleep over.

I can't say enough great things about these lights.

We were given these lights as a baby shower gift, and I had no idea how much we'd love them. We wound up bringing one to the hospital with us, because the lighting in our hospital room was way too bright for middle-of-the night nursing. I've literally used these every single night since (my baby's 6 1/2 mos. old) I've never had an issue with them turning off or not holding their charge. I've dropped them millions of times (yes, middle of the night exhausted new mom) and they may need to be re-assembled but they've never broken. The amount of light is perfect for night-time nursing, or even diaper changes. I've even used them for reading, but that's a strain. I've also traveled with one. I LOVE these so much!

A terrific feature is that you don't need to be near an outlet to use them. It makes them super-flexible. I highly recommend them to new parents.

We used the first generation of these lamps after the birth of our son and have recently purchased the newer generation with a new baby on the way. They are great for a soft glowing light that you can take with you to the kitchen, the bathroom, while nursing- etc. The quality of the light is beautiful and the flexibility great. The newer ones have replaceable rechargable batterties. I've seen some previous generations for sale elsewhere- but they do not have the replaceable batteries.
We love them!

These are perfect for outdoor dining. They add a good amount of light to the table and they don't blow out! I can't comment on how long they will last as I've only had them a short period of time but so far I really like them!

I recently received these lights and they are great. They let off as much light as a candle at least maybe a tad brighter. Plenty bright in the bathroom may be a little bright for an adult bedroom. Very sleek looking. I have mine in my guest bathroom. Pricey but I think maybe worth it.

These are great for late nights with the baby because the glow is really soft and they don't heat up so you can put them on the floor or out of the way if you find them too bright.

Look no further for a baby shower gift that new parents will use every day.

I used them with my son and they are the perfect amount of light for late night diaper changes, nursing, and checking on baby. My son had a lot of fevers and this was perfect for taking temperatures without turning all the lights on.

Ours broke pretty quickly, but the place where I bought them (a local store) replaced them. When they broke again I couldn't be bothered to buy a new set because my son was no longer an infant. I have heard that they have been redesigned since I bought them and now the charging mechanism and lights are different. For instance I believe they are now LED, when my original ones had an actual light bulb inside.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago for my sisters, and they liked it. The plastic material is firm and smooth, you can also draw on it. It has on button for easier use. it gives you a candle light, not a bedside light.
The light isn't suitable for reading, but enough to see the way and push away darkness illusions.
