Nicely designed containers (though smaller than I thought they would be). However, while they do have covers, there is a small spout that is not closed up with the cover.

I'm not sure why a previous reviewer thinks it's okay to give 1 star because of a failure to read the description. These things are prep bowls with about a 1 cup capacity. They are great for holding chopped ingredients, beating a few eggs, and storing any prep that needs to be refridgerated. The lids make it easy to keep the food from being spilled or having ingredients spilled in them. The non-slip bottoms are just like their much bigger cousins and keep the bowls from slipping on your work surface. About the only thing I wish they had are easy to read measuring marks. But their horizontal handle and pour spout more than make up for it.

After using this for about a year, the lids leave a little to be desired - it seems that without a decent way to release air pressure that they push themselves out of a tight fit. Sometimes it's not too bad, but there's no "clasp" to hold them in place, so they have popped up. I'd still give these 4.5, but I hope OXO fixes the design flaw.

Okay, let's not get too excited over a common mixing bowl, but, this bowl is better than the "standard" glass or metal mixing bowls I used to have. The greatest feature is the rubberized bottom which prevents the bowl from easliy slipping on the counter while mixing. The handle is nice and a pour spout that actually works.
The prep bowls are a good size, about one cup or so, for onions, diced tomatoes, as a prep in advance for such things like Tacos or complex recipes like Lasagna.
The lids will fit tight, but can pop loose (haven't figured that one out yet)
The only issue I have, and really minor one, the bowls only come in one color, not that I don't like white, it is just that sometimes a choice in color makes a nice variety.

I love the OXO Good Grip bowls of any size or shape. The prep bowls are great for mixing small amount of things. To get things ready for a recipe. They are just great little bowls. I even served pudding in them one night. Everyone thought they were so cute. They stay where you put them when mixing and I have never had one stain. Even with spagetti sauces. Easy to wash. Buy them and have fun!

I like to prep ingredients ahead of the actual cooking. These are a little larger than I started looking for, all have well-fitting lids and store nicely when empty. But perfect for prep-ahead, (even day before), for such things as diced onions, pepper, celery and garlic.

Yes I felt like a professional with all my ingredients chopped, measured, and line up on my counter! I chopped ahead and put the covers on and into the fridge. That evening Onions, peppers, garlic and celery. Into my stir fry each at the appointed time. WOW< I love these little bowls with their own covers. You can store what little items are left for your next dish. Feel like a food network star! Own these! They are about 1 cup capacity. Fine for prepping food or little toddlers, Cherrios, cut up fruit, etc. Already they are in the fridge chopped onions and peppers for my next dish. The top doen't seal completely, there is a spout for your liquids. OXO you gotta convert! If you are one of those people who have a hectic family life like mine, It is so nice to prep things ahead. The bowl set is the perfect size for storing chopped veggies, cheeses, and meats. The lids snap on easily and store so nice in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them. Then after you use them throw them in the dishwasher and they come out great...ready for the next time!

Sometimes it is the simple things in life that make a difference. To me, that is a good prep bowl. Holding a little more than a cup, these bowls make great...err...well, bowls...what else! They are great for holding the prep items of your next big feast, or tomorrow's dinner. David L. had it right with the lids, the fit, but it takes a little finesse. The rubberized bottoms allow the bowls to "stick" to your countertop and the spout makes pouring a breeze. These Oxo prep bowls and my silicone pinch cups are the first thing I grab in food preparation.

I recently purchased several sets of these bowls to have on hand for prep and storage. So far, the bowls are excellent. They are extremely well made, well designed, non-skid, and wash up nicely. Unfortunately the lids are not too well designed and they do not make a tight seal, so these cannot be used for transporting food, but they will work fine for storing food in the refrigerator. OXO does not recommend using these in the microwave, so they do have their limitations. The one cup capacity is perfect for storing leftovers, and the bowls stack nicely in the cupboards. If you need some high quality, inexpensive prep and storage containers, you will love these.

I use these every single day to crack my eggs in for breakfast. It can hold 3 eggs, plus a little egg sub to go with it. I also have the red ones, which I love because I can see any shells that may have mysteriously jumped from my hands. I also use these each and every time I bake, which is usually a few times a week. Great for prep. I haven't used them much for storage and hardly ever use the lids, but I have noticed they fit kinda weird, just never really an issue. Plus, its not like I would store soup or something in them! I am perfectly happy with them, just wish I had bought the blue when I saw it also.
