5.0 out of 5 stars The safer way to peel
This citrus peeler makes peeling oranges, limes, lemons etc. much safer than using any knife. Notice I said safer and not quantifiably faster! 3.0 out of 5 stars Great but not quite as good as that plastic Tupperware stick
Years ago, someone gave me one of those little Tupperware plastic-stick citrus peelers, and that silly but effective thing gets used almost every morning to peel grapefruit or orange for breakfast. I wanted an extra one to use @ home (I keep the Tupperware stick in my desk drawer @ work), so thought I'd give this a try.

It's very good, and works as promised...

There is still a bit of manual peeling required after using it, but I'm no longer worried about slicing my hands as they get slippery while cutting other fruit for my juicer. A must have tool for anyone who has taken up the healthy habit of juicing.

I never lost sleep over the frustration of peeling an orange and had no idea that a citrus peeler existed until browsing Amazon one day. I figured we'd give it a shot (because I hate tearing oranges with my fingernails) and now can't live without it!

This is by far the best orange peeler I've ever used. It is way better than those little plastic ones. This cuts through the orange peel at just the right depth, and if any of that white stuff is left behind you can scrape it with the flat end of this tool. I wonder how I ever did without it!

The Oxo Good Grips Citrus Peeler is the best of the many varieties I've used. I have arthritis in my hands and this tool lets me peel without pain.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great but not quite as good as that plastic Tupperware stick, August 3, 2010

It's very good, and works as promised. But all in all, not quite as effective at peeling grapefruit or oranges as that dumb little plastic stick. With that stick, I can slip the "stick end" underneath the peel after I've sliced around the circumference, and can work the peel fully, easily away from the fruit. This compact little Oxo however, has no good way of doing that, so you have to use the "scraper" edge to get the peel off. Still effective, sure, but it takes longer and you have to be careful to not cut into the fruit.

On the positive side, it's well made and nicely designed like most all Oxo gadgets. And it won't disappoint...unless perhaps you really like those little Tupperware sticks, like I do.

At first I was suspicious that it would not work as well as other orange peelers I have owned, but it does a pretty good job!

I have been looking for a good orange peeler that seems like forever. I had the tupperware one for years then it dissappeard. I have bought cheap one's at the dollar stores but nothing was very good. This one is the best! Small, simple and easy to handle. Everyone in the house loves oranges but no one like's to peel them. Now the kids fight over who gets to use it! Worth every Penny!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best citrus peeler EVER., January 4, 2011

I think I've tried every citrus peeler. I absolutely hate getting orange pith under my nails, and I'm a cuticle chewer so peeling citrus fruits stings too.
This peeler has a rubberized handle which keeps it from getting slippery when you peel multiple fruits, and gives it a very pleasant grip. The shape is fantastic - it fits very naturally in the hand. It's weight gives the impression of quality.

Unlike thin stick, or ring shaped fruit peelers, this one will not go down the drain, be lost forever in the dishwasher or be destroyed in the disposal.
Because the "blade" is metal, it won't break off either - a problem I've had with other peelers.

For the first time I am happy to peel oranges, and I can peel them faster than ever! Between this and the OXO apple slicer, I am very pleased. These are must haves if you are juicing or eat lots of fruit.

Still doesn't make peeling a grapefruit easy. But it is better than using your fingers.

This pealer is very heavy duty and will never wear out. It works better than the plastic ones and cuts deeper so you can get through the thicker peals. It was the third one I tried and by far the best.
