Old-fashioned egg beaters have long been relied on for perfectly aerated egg whites and fluffy whipped cream. Now the OXO Good Grips Egg Beater combines the same dependable results with innovation and ease. The smoothly rotating gears are enclosed in the upright handle for protection and easy clean-up. The turning knob and contoured handle have a soft, comfortable, non-slip grip for easy operation even with wet hands. The two stainless steel Beaters can be removed for individual cleaning or to offer a taste of whipped confections. The base detaches by simply pressing two side buttons and can be tossed into the dishwasher. A stainless steel bridge extends slightly longer than the Beaters to rest against the bottom of the mixing bowl to reduce arm strain. Eggs, light batters, whipped cream and more are now such a breeze to whip up that even the next generation may want to take a turn.

Amazon Verified Purchase
For years I dreaded handwashing the old hand egg beater because the flat surfaces on the beater seemed to hold the egg or other gunk especially when I did not wash it right away. It always seemed a germy situation if you know what I mean. Then I saw this on Amazon! OMGoodness, beaters that look like the ones from my handheld electric mixer that can easily be removed and popped in the dishwasher.
If you look closely at the photos here on Amazon, you will see that there are 4 main parts -- two beaters that easily detach (dishwasher safe), a white neck (dishwasher safe) and a handle that is easy to hold (do not put in dishwasher--probably due to the gears in this part?). There are 2 gray buttons on the front and back that you push on to release the white neck part. The gray buttons should work well and the neck should come off easily--I have ordered several as gifts and one did not work properly (appeared it was maybe a previously returned item).
Who would of thought the old classic could see such innovation!

This is such a innovative design. Rather than having to pull out the electric whisk it quickly and easily beats eggs, cream, batter to a smooth finish. So much easier than the beaters I used as a kid - and best of all the beaters can go in the dishwasher making cleanup easy. Great for kids who you don't want to trust with an electric whisk.

Works smoothly but not the best design
The bottoms of the blades are rounded, not squarish like the ones I remember from my youth, which means that shallow jobs (like beating eggs) do not get much beating action at all. Read more
