4.0 out of 5 stars They work, what do you want?
The adjustable top has a closed position which closes. Larger shaker holes that put out not quite enough salt for me, a normal to heavy salt user. The smaller shaker holes put out just enough salt for those who think salt is bad for you but don't want to do without. The pouring hole pours salt at a nice rate for pouring into the palm of your hand or into a measuring...

2.0 out of 5 stars I hate them
I purchased this set because of the great reviews I read online. However I feel they are a very poor design. Very small which requires frequent filling, if you cook often, as I do, and not ergonomic in the least bit. Save your money and buy a more professional set.

The adjustable top has a closed position which closes. Larger shaker holes that put out not quite enough salt for me, a normal to heavy salt user. The smaller shaker holes put out just enough salt for those who think salt is bad for you but don't want to do without. The pouring hole pours salt at a nice rate for pouring into the palm of your hand or into a measuring spoon. Nice salt and pepper shakers.

The adjusting lever is a little hard to turn, but not a problem for any but those who have some problem with their hands.

The shakers are a nice matching set for the Oxo salt and pepper grinders, only smaller of course.

EDIT: The selector mechanism does get clogged with salt and almost impossible to turn. It must be thoroughly rinsed, dried, and let sit to make sure it is completely dry. The small holes on the pepper shake just barely let the finer particles of fine ground pepper to come out. For people who want just a little pepper, this might be good.

I had been looking for a salt and pepper grinder and after the Oxo good grips s&p came up I did not look closely to notice they were both shakers and not grinders.

As far as shakers go, they are good as with most Oxo products. I was disappointed I didn't receive what I thought I was purchasing, I should have looked closer as I suggest you do, if you are looking for grinders and not shakers.
