Product Description

The OXO Good Grips Sink Strainer combines sleek stainless steel with flexible, stain-resistant silicone. The easy-to-clean silicone basket traps food debris to prevent clogs. When it’s time to empty your Strainer, simply pick it up by the center post and invert the silicone basket for easy debris removal. A silicone underside won’t scratch the sink basin.

I love this sink strainer because it is so easy to clean.

I've had the first one for over a year and it still looks and works great, and the second one is the same.
EclecticMaude
It makes a nice seal so food doesn't get around it and down the drain.

It kills me to write this review since I never thought I would be writing a review for a sink strainer. I guess this means that I am officially getting old but, when you come across a well engineered product that solves a problem for you, no matter how simple, it should get credit. This strainer allows full flow down the drain even when it is full of food particles so you can just clean it easily after you are all done. No food can sneak by due to the design and it even looks good.

Pros: fits great, looks good, engineered perfectly, solves your kitchen sink drain issues

Cons: Makes you re-examine your life now that you are this excited about a sink strainer

Don't think about it, just buy it!

Seriously, this little strainer is that good.

No more pierced fingers from metal mesh strainers coming out of the edges. No more trying to scrape mashed goop out of those little fine-mesh holes.

This strainer works great and looks great. When it's time to empty it, just walk it to the trash can and "pop" it inside out. Bingo! It's completely empty. A quick rinse and you're all set. You'll never again have to take a brush to a disgusting fine-mesh metal strainer.

This is the best strainer and of course way better than picking lots of food bits out of the sink drain with your fingers while washing the dishes. I dont have a garbage disposal, instead my sink drain has a 7 hole grate built in at the bottom that can fill up fast and clog, especially after certain meals! This strainer works wonderfully, looks great and most importantly can be emptied of a lot of food in just seconds.

I pick it up from the sink and turn it upside down over the garbage can to dump it and then flick the center of the bottom hard, inverting it and sending any sticky bits flying downward off the silicone into the trash, then I push it back down into the sink drain. Takes me way longer to say it than to do it lol.

I like the fact that it is very decorative, and it is also easy to dispose trapped food particles away from the sink; however, it gets really slimy underneath the rim if you do not brush or clean it regularly. This is one disadvantage that I can think of.

A few of my family members recommended this strainer so I thought I'd try it out. Initially I loved it. Unfortunately a black slime/mold of some kind began growing underneath strainer and on the sink; anywhere the silicone touched the stainless steel. I tried scrubbing this thing and the sink everyday and if I missed a day the mold grew back with a vengeance.

What I found most frustrating was that food would stick to the silicone, so I wound up having to touch it and pick it out myself because it simply would not rinse out. The holes on this are much smaller so food gets clogged in them. Since then I've gone back to my old school, steel strainer that came with the sink. The holes are bigger so the food is less prone to stick and it rinses out much easier, and there isn't any slime!

It's too bad because I have several OXO items that I love, this just isn't one of them.

I wasn't expecting much, but the Good Grips sink strainer is way better than a conventional plug strainer or a screen strainer. And, unlike the previous reviewer, this thing fits my drain perfectly with no centering required. Plus, with it's stainless ring and black strainer, it looks great - really great.

Here's how it's better than the screen type strainer and the plug strainers I've used before:
1) Much easier to clean. Pull it out and almost everything falls clear. The screen tends to cling to small debris requiring some serious spraying. The silicon and larger holes allows this to come clean immediately.
2) The wider steel rim looks awesome and makes the silicone collar lie totally flat. It also allows all those scraps friction-free transit to the basket. Since there's silicon all the way under the collar, it clings well to the drain.
3) The center pull - allow you to invert the drain basket to empty it, and also allows you to remove it from the drain without having to pry up an edge or get your fingers in the yucky stuff.

What a cool little thing.

This sink strainer is a remarkable replacement to your regular metal strainer. Cleaning that metal mesh is a frustrating mess. With this silicone strainer, it is fun and easy to empty the debris that gets collected on the sink. The soft silicone receptacle turns inside out to dump the garbage to your trash. The center grip handle make it a breeze to lift it off. Silicone make it also very easy to clean with soap and water. It is dishwasher safe. The bottom of the stainless rim is rubberized, so as not to scratch the sink and also to prevent it from moving. I am really happy for this purchase.

Why not 5 stars? Either the metal flange is not big enough or the diameter of the silicone cone is not big enough. When the strainer is pushed to one side, there is a possibility that debris will fall directly to the disposer via the small slit on the edge. If either the flange or the cone is bigger, then the strainer will not move too much on one side.
