5.0 out of 5 stars FORGET THE REST, BUY THE BEST !
7 STARS ! Having been a Head Chef (4 STAR Hotel in Hampton Court - Henry VIII's Palace) in a previous life, I know the benefits of using a highly efficient tool to make a boring repetitive task bearable. After thoroughly researching the market, I came a cross this little beauty. It even makes peeling spuds - FUN ! Shush ! don't tell anyone I said that, as I don't want to...

3.0 out of 5 stars Great until it broke
I loved the peeler, but it came apart in my hands as I was hand drying it. A small metal part that holds the blade flung off into the air... never did find it. Hopefully OXO will send me a replacement without me needing to spend the money to send this one back.

Shush ! don't tell anyone I said that, as I don't want to be thought of as SAD. It does its job superbly well, and is a joy to use.

NOTE: In use, I found the swivel peeler to be better for rounder items such as Spuds, and the Y peeler better for longer items such as Carrots and Parsnips. Horses for courses.

When something exceeds your expectations by a country mile, then it must be really good. BUY IT NOW, you won't regret it. Its macho boyfriend, the i-Series Y Peeler, is also superb, and is also a BUY IT NOW !

If you buy both, you will make them very happy, as they can then canoodle together in the drawer in the dark !

I laughed when my mother said that one potato peeler was better than another. But then I tried using hers and I stopped laughing. If you normally use a peeler (that is, if you are not a tried-and-true knife-wielding peeler) you should try one of these. Borrow a friend's if you must. I don't know why the handle should make such a difference; you'd think the blade was the important part. Maybe the blade is better quality too, who knows. But it makes a world of difference to the person who is peeling, so much easier to peel, better control, whatever. I don't know. But the difference is amazing. I have one now, you betcha!

After you get one for yourself, you might be like me and end up buying them for every bridal shower's wishing well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oxo is #1 Again!, June 23, 2005

I bought this & was amazed of the quality & the improvements over all the other vegetable peelers I have used in the past.
A super sharp replaceable blade, a rubber tacky grip, a vastly superior potato eye remover, and it has a great comfortable feel & balance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply a great peeler, November 16, 2004
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Pro Swivel Peeler (Kitchen)
This is just a fantastic peeler at a very reasonable price. Has a very comfortable handle that gives you nice control. The metal construction is a nice improvement over the original OXO peeler: its potato eyer is much sharper and easier to use. The blade is ultra sharp also. Not sure if I'll ever need to replace the blade, but its a nice option to have.

I've been using a dull old Kitchenaid vegetable peeler for more than a year now, and got fed up with it. The appeal (HA!) of this peeler is that the blade is replaceable. So it might get dull in a year, yes, but I won't have to shell out ten bucks for another peeler, I'll be able to shell out slightly less (hopefully!) for a replacement blade. And this blade is SO sharp. It seems much sharper than the Kitchenaid peeler's blade was, so hopefully it won't get dull as quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very, very sharp, August 5, 2006

The design of this peeler is excellent. It's easy to grip, and you can reverse or replace the blade. But what really counts is the blade is sharp! Razor sharp! It works so easily it doesn't feel as if you're actually cutting. It comes with a plastic shield for the blade. I suggest you keep it and use it when you store the peeler to preserve that marvelous edge.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Vegetable Peeler, December 21, 2004

This is probably the best peeler I've ever used. Far better than the cheap peelers you'd get at the grocery store. The peeler is cast out of zinc and has a soft, rubberized coating on the grip. It is nicely weighted and shaped perfectly. The blade is also wickedly sharp; on par with a high-quality kitchen knife. I used it to peel some carrots and potatoes for a stew and it worked much quicker and with less fuss than my old peeler. Highly recommended.

Let me count the ways: 1. Blade is so sharp, you could perform surgery with it. 2. Smart, smart, smart design. 3. Replaceable blade! Need I say more? 4. Perfect grip - feels natural in the hand. 5. Potato eye remover tip is the best I've ever used. 6. I love you so much, I find excuses to use you! Seriously, I've found no drawbacks with this item. I bought it and a package of spare blades, and I feel like I'm set for life. It makes short work of potatoes, but the way it peels cucumbers is like silk. A true joy to use.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Muscular Tool, December 28, 2007
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Pro Swivel Peeler (Kitchen)
This peeler makes the quickest work ever of heavy-duty peeling jobs, like winter
squashes. The little scraper cup at the top of the peeler is a great bonus.
It makes short work of getting rid of the strings inside winter squashes
after deseeding. It also enabled me to peel an eggplant (another generally
frustrating kitchen job) in record time! The best peeler I ever used (and
I've tried em all).

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Pro Swivel Peeler (Kitchen)
I used it to peel an apple, and it worked great! I didn't know that peelers could do that. It is very well made, and very sharp. I would expect it to last maybe 20 years based on my twice a week or so usage.
