heavy, and it cracked in the first month - do not be fooled by attractive low price,

I trusted OXO as a brand, but found this turner to be extremely heavy and non-ergonomic. Plus it cracked in less than one month and it's not like I cook that often. I think OXO should stick to extrusion plastic goods and stay away from wood products. Do not be attracted to this cheap price. Better to buy a bamboo turner for $1 at a Chinese supermarket - that lasts, is lightweight, and easy to wash.

Split after a couple of washes,
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Wooden Turner (Kitchen)
As the previous reviewer described, this turner starts to split after only a few washes. I would avoid this product, unless you want a disposable turner.

Perfect for saute pan and soup cooking- couldn't cook without it,

First things first... this is NOT a turner. It would be useless for that. The product is misnamed.
What it does better than anything else I've ever had is stirring up kind of saute pan dinners or soups or chili or stews that start with chopped vegetables like onions, peppers and chopped cabbage, zucchini etc. The flat bottom edge gives you a good clean sweep across the bottom of the pan. (I never could understand how the pointy tip of a wooden spoon was supposed to be useful for this). It also lets you easily break up clumps of meat and scrape up anything that's gotten stuck on the bottom. I've tried every version of this shape of utensil that I could find. This one is the very best because it's strong enough to handle heavy stirring and the handle is big enough to be comfortable. (The little bamboo ones don't feel good in the hand and are too dainty for soup pots IMHO) I've had mine for at least a few years. It has not cracked, although the edge has chipped a bit. I hand wash it, but sometimes it gets left in the sink or in a soaking pot and it has survived just fine. If I hadn't accidentally burned the handle, I wouldn't have had to search high and low for a replacement. I'm glad that I can still get this one.

Not exactly a turner,

Unless we're talking about a bowl of peas, the wood on this item is entirely too thick and not wide enough to actually "turn" a pancake or fish fillet without completely destroying it.

I use mine daily for stir frying. Got two giant cracks after about a month of use. Still usable though.

I use this one a lot!,

Great quality and matches the most expensive wooden spoons I've seen selling on the net. I use this one allot, espeically when I'm carmalizing tomatoe paste for my spaghettie sauce. Thanks for making it available on Amazon! What a great price for such quality!
Update 4-25-2011: Well this spoon has traveled its way through lots of spaghetti sauce pans, casseroles and so much more, while enduring countless washings in soap and water. I even use it in my distiller machine, which I bought on Amazon.com, when I make my home made distilled water. It's great after you pour in the the minerals used to "de-glaze" the stainless steal container. The deglazing minerals do no harm to the wooden spanner, nor are they toxic. But this spanner can easily reach the flat part of the stainless steal bottom and unstick all the accumulated minerals left behind by the city water from doing a week's worth of distilling of my city water for drinking here in Los Angeles. All I can say is that after four years, I don't think this spoon is ever going to wear out! I keep it in a stainless steal canister on my kitchen counter top along with the wooden hammer and other wooden utensils I bought like this one and for over four years, I sure have gotten value for my money. This spoon should be wearing a cape and cowl given how well it has stood up to such a grueling four year trial in my kitchen!

A great wooden tool with some heft!,

I love this turner. I use it for stir-fry and making thick sauces. It has a nice weight and thickness to it.
I've had it for about 3 months now. I've never had it splinters come off of it. I do handwash it. I never do wooden tools in the dishwasher.

This is what I use when making a roux and when I need to break up ground meat while cooking. It's nice and heavy and feels good in my hand. I have cheaper wooden products and they don't hold up as well as this does. You can tell the difference between OXO wooden utensils and others because of the quality. I think you can put it in the dishwasher but I never do. I hand wash it and oil it whenever I oil my cutting board. I love its rich color. It's a great product.

I'm really glad I got this cooking utensil. I'm trying to slowly phase out most of my plastic cooking supplies with wood/bamboo. I was looking for something that wouldn't fall apart and something that I could use in my iodized steel calphalon pans without scratching them. OXO has impressed me in the past so I thought I'd give this turner a try. I'm very pleased with it. I've had it for 3 or 4 days now and have used it almost every day. The handle is very thick and sturdy, which I love. This tool is good for stirring, scraping food from the bottom of a pan, and crumbling foods like ground beef. I'm very satisfied.

Ordered two different Wooden Spatualas and both work like a charm. Clean easily, at least while they're new. Use them while doing ground beef to break the meat apart, works great.
