The OXO Good Grips steel rectangular trash Can features a motion control device that guarantees the lid will open and close smoothly and silently. Just press the broad, external foot pedal for hands-free lid opening. The lid will automatically close, or you can conveniently lock the lid in a 90-degree stay-open position for extended use. To help keep your Can clean, use OXO's unique Bag Lock to secure trash bags around the plastic liner rim in the upright position, insuring that garbage is placed and stays in the bag, not in the Can. The Bag Lock also gathers trash bag excess, keeping the trash bag out of sight underneath the extra-deep lid for a clean look. Our removable plastic liner takes the chore out of taking out the garbage. The liner is easily accessible, sitting above the Can with grip areas, and is tapered for easier removal of heavy trash bags. Unlike cylindrical trash receptacles, our Can's rectangular, tapered silhouette efficiently uses space, integrating into your kitchen workspace, and has an extra-wide mouth, measuring 14-inches wide by 10-inches deep, to fit bulky trash items.

I had a $50 coupon, so the cost was not as great, but after receiving the trash can, I would have paid full price for it. It looks nice. The lid works great. The band around the top and the bag holder are a tremendous asset. The white color is much better than the stainless ones that leave fingerprints. This was a very good choice.

I bought mine last year when we remodeled our kitchen and it is still working great and looking fine! Smooth operation, never a fight with can when pulling trash full trash bag out! Keeps odors in and cat out! Love it !

We bought this trash can looking for one that would keep a bag in place. The mechanism in this can definitely does that and I do love that feature. HOWEVER the lid is FAR from silent when closing(BAM!) and now, after time, often gets stuck on the rim when opening with the foot pedal, making you have to use your hand to lift it open. I know that doesn't sound like a big deal, but when you spend the money to get a hands free opening feature, it'd be nice if it actually worked!!! We called the company when we first bought it and they were very nice (she actually gasped when I let her hear the "silent" closing of the lid) and replaced the can not once but twice -- but they all did the same thing. I decided to just keep it because we do like the stay-put bag feature, and I didn't really NEED a silent close, but after a year now it hardly EVER opens without my hand and I really wish my trash can actually opened when I stepped on the pedal! I have had guests try to open my can and say "Is this locked or something?" My husband constantly reminds me of how much I spent for a trash can that doesn't open. For that reason, despite the great bag holding feature, I don't think I'd recommend this product to others.
