I love using these cups for cooking and measuring cocktail ingredients.

We use the metal ones, too, but these are much better with higher visibility in a darkened bar.
Stefan
The angled reading on the inside makes its so easy to measure small amounts accurately.

I bought one of these on a whim because it was cheap and I was making something that required 2 tbs of several ingredients. It seemed pretty monofunctional, but I didn't care - it was for fun, right? But this has turned out to be one of my favorite kitchen tools! It's a million times easer to use than measuring spoons, and it seems to be significantly more accurate, which is important for the exacting science that is baking. What's more, instead of having to wash three or four measuring spoons (all dripping milk, vanilla, or orange juice concentrate all over your cooking space), you just have one little cup to wash! Anyone who cooks on a regular basis should have one of these, and everyone who enjoys cooking, even if infrequently, will wonder how they ever lived without it!

The first time I saw one of these, I picked it up and said, "Oh, isn't that clever." Then I put it back on the shelf and forgot about it. This went on for months. Then one day, my husband brought two home.

And everything changed.

Okay, the sky didn't turn plaid. The space time continum didn't unravel. Instead, I went from an awkward system of filling shotglasses up to the top of the logo and adding in a teaspoon and a half, to a quick, simple system of just measuring the exact amount I needed without thinking about it.

The angled measuring cup is just brilliant. I had no idea how useful it would be until I used it. Trust me on this one. It'll change the way you cook - for the better.

I've found these sturdy plastic cups are top rack dishwasher safe as well as occasionally microwave safe. The quantities are clearly labeled and easy to read. The moulded front pour results in no spills or dribbles.

Basically, if you're looking for a way to measure fairly precise quantities under 4 ounces, I can't recommend the Oxo Measuring Cup highly enough. Try one - it's cheap - and just see if you don't replace all your measuring cups with Oxo.

My husband has dementia due to chemicals in Iraq and I use this to give him his medications because he tends to bite down hard on the cup and it doesn't break. The marking on the side shows milliliters as well as teaspoons. It also allows me to give him ice and small amounts of liquids easier. The point on the cup goes into his mouth so even if he bites down and clamps down the liquid can still go in. I bought my first set at Target several years ago and have used them for all kinds of things but now as a Nurse and caregiver I find them terrific for Medical purposes.

like others have said, it is more effective for using at the bar or, in my case, craft projects. I have used my kitchen one a couple of times, when making dressings and stuff, but most kitchen measurements in this range can be accompished with a little research and measuring spoons. Check the internet, but most cooking and baking will be just fine using the measuring spoons at this level of ingredient amounts.

On a side note, even with free prime shipping, I am seeing these in the $9 - $10 range. You can get them way cheaper in a grocery store or a kitchen supply store.

I do make some home products - from linen sprays and my own cologne to skin care products. I was having too many reactions to weird ingredients and, in a push to be more self-sufficent and natural, I started looking up how to do this stuff at home. These cups are invaluable to me, because most of the items are measured in these smaller amounts and having a pour spout allows me to easily transfer things into bottles and small containers.

So, good item, but the price seems high on Amazon. Mine were around $5

I absolutely love this cup! Many reviews say this is better in the bar. Although I'm sure it's great in the bar too, it is fantastic in the kitchen! How many times does a recipe call for 2 Tbs. of oil or 3 Tbs. of soy sauce, vinegar, etc.? It is so much easier and more accurate pouring once than messing with little measuring spoons! Also, with this little cup, you can keep your spoons dry and not have to wash after each measure between liquid and dry. I love this cup!

These cute little measuring cups are every Bartender's dream! Forget all the different sized jiggers that can be confusing and clog up bar space. With 1 of these containers you get all the measurements you will need to make a standard drink. The only addition I had to make was a mark for 3/4 ounce. That was a simple line inbetween the 1/2 ounce and 1 ounce line. This even allows you to add more than 1 ingredient at a time before adding to the mixing glass. Makes my life as a Bartender easier and making drinks a breeze.

OXO makes several measuring cups like this with a sloping measure on the inside so you can look at it from above rather than bending down to check the eye level. These are particullarly good with liquid measurements.

I have several in different sizes and am very happy with these for cooking. This particullar item is made to the same standard of quality BUT it doesn't get much use in my kitchen. It is too small for cooking use, something so small as these gradations will be tablespoons or teaspoons or the like in most recipes BUT in the bar where you are putting in measures of ounces this comes to the fore.

So in the kitchen, not so much. But in a bar, mixing cocktails where you want to measure out proportions of different liquids like that? There this is outstandingly good. although with usual cocktails where it is 1 meassure of X, 2 measures of Y you can get away with traditional measures but more and more recipes I'm hitting have things like 3/4 a measure. For those this will be perfect.

I would warn to not buy this through the mail though. The price is high enough already and to add on the shipping cost when you can pick it up in a super market or kitchen supply shop without the shipping cost just doesn't make sense.

oh, am I the only one who thinks the picture of the product here looks like they have just taken a sample for drug testing?
