Product Description

The OXO Good Grips Microfiber Extendable Duster head puts dust within reach. The sturdy, lightweight aluminum body extends to 54” long with a quick twist to easily dust those hard-to-reach places. The Duster head rotates 270 degrees and locks at multiple angles, depending on your cleaning needs. Lock the Duster head in a vertical position to clean ceiling vents and light fixtures or at a right angle to remove dust from the tops of bookshelves and cabinets. When you’re done with one side, simply rotate the head to use the clean side of the duster head for extended cleaning.

This baby makes it much easier and less dreadful.

Being extendable is a great help for ceilings and being able to adjust angle makes cleaning ceiling fans and light fixtures very easy.
elaine steinle
It picks up everything and you can actually see the dust on it.

I could not make up my mind which of two extendable dusters to purchase. So I got them both (since I have a two-story house, it does make it convenient to have a duster on each floor for spider webs!) and am keeping them both. They are similar, but each has a different advantage that I value.

Here are my plusses and minuses, by number of stars, for this duster, the
OXO Good Grips Microfiber Extendable Duster
and the
Eurow Electrostatic Duster with 3 sections extension pole
in a few categories.
As you can see, I like both of these dusters!

1. How well does the dust-head work?
***** 5 stars Oxo - The cleaning head is very soft, but the filaments are wider and shorter, more cloth-like, than the extremely soft ones of the Eurow. This makes the Oxo not as good on objects like the masks. However, the Oxo is better on general, and especially on more heavy-duty, dusting. I don't dust as often as I should, so the tops of hanging painting frames, for example, can get quite a layer of dust. The Oxo is better at capturing the thicker dust, rather than just pushing it off of the frames. I don't have a ceiling fan to try it on, but I would think this would work well on dusting the top of the fan blades.
***** 5 stars Eurow - The cleaning head is made up of soft filaments. This duster is better at plain old dusting of objects with crevices. For example, we have a set of leather masks hanging on the wall.

July 2013: The microfiber head really picks up dust well. I'm especially happy with how clean it leaves the plastic casing on my plasma TV and computer monitors. I used to waste so much time trying to dust because Whiffers, paper towels and rags all leave as much dust as they pick up. Dusting is now faster and cleaner. The dust stays on the head until shaken clean (I rap it against the metal bars on my porch and I can actually see bursts of dust shake out). The major downside is that the joint that allows the head to bend at an angle is way too bulky. The hard plastic joint area is totally exposed, even when not bent. There is nothing to protect surfaces from getting scratched or damaged (I must be ultra-careful cleaning my TV screen, for example). I took two stars away for this extra-poor design. If you look at the pictures of this OXO duster carefully, you can clearly see what I mean.

November 5, 2014: After inadvertently breaking the handle, I purchased another OXO Good-Grips microfiber duster a couple of weeks ago. What a disappointment. The duster is now thinner and narrower than the one I had purchased in July 2013. It also does not pick up dust well. This new version puts most of the dust back onto the furniture. It sheds a lot more than the one I purchased last year, leaving a trail of orange fiber wherever I walk. Fortunately, I still have my earlier duster, so I was able to salvage this purchase by replacing the useless duster with my old one, which after 15 months of continuous use still picks up dust like a champ. I do not recommend this new version of the OXO Good-Grips Microfiber Extendable Duster. Perhaps some other reviewer can recommend a better product. Better still, perhaps the manufacturer will salvage its brand by offering a better quality product.

I love that I can wash this instead of paying for refill covers. It extends as high as anything in my house and it angles to get hard to dust areas. Also it is soft and fluffy and attracts the dust and holds it well. I do need to use pliers to get the snap undone to get the cover off for laundering (arthritic fingers) but that is not really a big deal.

I would have preferred a wool duster but could not find one. I settled on this one and am very happy. It is true that the red fibers did shed after the first wash but all if fine now. This is really nice for duster ceiling fans and air vents near the ceiling.

My housekeepers asked me to buy a Swiffer Duster.
As it's made by Proctor & Gamble (who do horrible testing on animals), I wouldn't buy it.
In addition, the heads are disposable and very environmentally incorrect.
I read the reviews on the OXO Duster and bought it.
Very soft. Great for dusting everything, including the fine art frames and high places in the house.
Easy to rinse out. Nothing to throw away.
Great product. Good price on Amazon.

Although the poles may be aluminum, the joint which permits the head to swivel is made of plastic. The head broke off at that joint as I shook it to clean the dust off. Also, since the joint is on the same plane as the surface of the cleaning head, I think it could scratch or mark certain surfaces if too much pressure is used.

What a waste of money. The first time we used it, the pin that connects the duster to the handle popped out. We tried to fix it but were unsuccessful. Very poorly made. We love other OXO products, but this was clearly defective. I do not recommend this at all.
