These knives are a great value. They perform as well as some more expensive knives that I own, and seem to retain the blade longer. The handles are very comfortable. Overall very good knives for the money.

That's what I'm telling my best friend when I give it to her. She gave me a short list of things she wanted/needed and a small paring knife was on the list. Since I didn't want to come off as an extreme cheapo I looked at several pricier knives but settled on this one because I already own the identical knife and love it for plenty of reasons beyond its reasonable price tag.
The size of this knife is wonderful for most kitchen tasks. I use it for chopping vegetables every day but it also does a formidable job when carving a pumpkin or peeling potatoes or trimming a zucchini. The handle is very comfortable which is a signature feature for the OXO brand. I can use this for a long time without any hand cramping or fatigue. The blade is super sharp and if you follow the manufacturer's suggestion to hand wash it will stay that way. Overall, this knife is nicely balanced and well made. I have been using this knife for quite awhile and I haven't had to sharpen it yet as it still has a solid and sharp cutting edge. I also own the 4" version of this knife, but this is my go to knife for most jobs.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
Back when I got married, we got the obligatory Henckels 5-star Knife set which are currently selling on Amazon for over 300 bucks. The 3-inch paring knife is currently selling for about 33 bucks. On the plus side -- the Henckels outlasted my marriage (marriage = 20 years; Henckels = 25 years: Advantage Hendkels!)

These look VERY similar to my Henckels... however there are a few key differences:

1: Cost: 7 bucks vs 33 bucks for Henckels... BIG WIN for OXO
2: Handle: Padded and "grippier" so it is more comfortable and more secure in my hand... Win for OXO
3: Handel: SHORTER than the Henkels... The handle is a smidge too short to be really comfortable in my hand so there I would give the win to Henckels.

They both cut very well... since the OXO has a newer blade it is actually outperforming my Henckels but again, that is an unfair comparison for 25-year-old knives versus one that just came out of the package.

Let's say, for the sake of argument that the blade doesn't last as long as the Henckels... I could purchase one of these every 4 years for 25 bucks and still have 10 bucks in my pocket vs buying the Henckels.

I love my Henckels... but the OXO performs nearly as well and allows you to pocket as more money in the long run. If I were doing it all over again, I would a) have married someone different (though then I wouldn't have my wonderful boys) and b) saved the money and gone for OXO. They are a great value for the quality!

Great little paring knife for everyday use. It does need to be sharpened frequently. Luckily I have the whole set of the OXY Good Grips Professional knives which includes a sharpener.

I accidently posted my review under the regular 3-1/2 inch paring knife, which I have owned for years. This one for the same price is like night and day. It's great to pare apples and fruit. I haven't cut my thumb yet. This knife feels like an extension of my nand and fits perfect in my palm. Going to order some of the other professional series. I have quite a few of the regular ones from OXO and they work great. As I replace them They will become my camping knives. I am excited about ordering the slicing knife for steaks and chicken breasts. Presentation is everything!

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
It's a perfectly good, inexpensive paring knife. My first reaction to holding it in my hand was that the handle is too small - I then compared it to my regular Wusthof paring knife and realized the OXO's handle is exactly the same length as the Wusthof's but the OXO's grip is thicker, which oddly gave me the sensation that it wasn't quite as big as I want. The OXO is not as nicely balanced as the Wusthof, which costs a lot more - I realize it's not a fair comparison given the difference in price, but there you have it. It's perfectly adequate to most tasks including opening packages from Amazon, which is probably what I use a paring knife for most often.

First rate kitchen tool for cutting and slicing. Sturdy blade that sharpens to a fine edge. Very comfortable handle grip that makes cutting jobs smooth and easy. I bought 2 of these to have extra at the ready when in the middle of food preparation. I like these much better than Chicago Cutlery or Vitorinox knives that I have due to the feel, weight and cut of these knives. Like most Oxo items these are valuable kitchen tools.

Unlike one of its predecessors, this knife has a good blade and an easy to clean design. I'd give it 5 stars if the handle circumference were a wee bit larger (for arthritic hands), but if one is not arthitic, it's a gret paring knife. For those who've had the old OXO Good Grips paring knife, it's worth repeating that this knife's handle is very easy to keep clean!
