Doesn't Catch Hair,

I bought this product because we got new bath hardware and ended up with those pop up drains which made my old drain catcher obselete. This one looked good in the picture, but in reality, it sits up on its suction cups too high so all the hair (and I have long hair) goes right under it and down the drain. At least it is a pretty color. Aside from that, it's worthless.

Works better than a wire mesh strainer,

This drain protector catches hair in the shower (which can be easily swiped off the silicone and thrown out), while still allowing water to drain and not back up into the tub/shower. It's easy to clean off, and you don't have to pick out all the gunk that normally collects in a wire mesh strainer. This gadget will work on either flat or raised drains.Update: Have to change this to 3 out of 5 after a few months of use. The suction cups lost their suction a little, and it also became a mildew magnet. And it's a pain to clean out all those little holes when there's mildew growing in them.

Completely Useless Drain "Protector",
A Kid's Review
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Shower/Tub Drain Protector (Kitchen)
I'm not one to write reviews, but I thought I should warn other customers about this product. I tried using it in the shower for the first time this evening, and it caught not one single strand of hair thereby making it completely useless. Like the reviewer before me, the suction cups made it sit too high so all the hair went under it - it was essentially equivalent to having nothing covering the drain. Save your $8.00 and buy another product because this one is a disappointment.

Doesn't work...,

I was hopeful that this would end the problem with clogged tub drains once and for all, but it didn't. The openings are too big, so it didn't catch any hair. It went down the drain like always.

I have a bathtub that has a pop-up drain stopper. This mechanism has no way to stop hair from going down the drain. I have been looking for a long time for a mechanism that would fit securely enough to prevent hair from going down the drain. This drain protector works like a charm! It is reasonably priced, easy to clean and use. I highly recommend the product.

Sucks hair right down the drain,
By GD (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Shower/Tub Drain Protector (Kitchen)
I love OXO products, because of their practical and generally good design, so I was so excited to see this drain cover. I have a new fancy tub with a drain stopper that has a big diameter, and this cover is the only one I've seen that fits over it. Unfortunately, this is the most poorly designed drain cover out there. The bottom lies flat except for right by the suction cups, which lift the bottom a little creating little vacuums that suck your hair right down the drain. On the top part, the holes are so big, you can actually watch as your hairs get channeled right through them and down the drain. The top part does catch a few hairs that hit it sideways, but I know how much hair I lose in showers (I have lots of hair), and a big fat hairball is going down the drain every time I shower. I'm still waiting for someone to design a drain protector for my big drain stopper, and in the meantime, I'll have to figure something else out.

Lost its effectiveness after a couple of weeks,

This review is from: OXO Good Grips Shower/Tub Drain Protector (Kitchen)
I bought this for my large oldstyle popup drain, and for the first couple of weeks it trapped well, and then it must have lost its shape or suction and it traps nothing. I will either find another one, or have to settle for using a new one every couple of weeks!

Does not stop everything from entering the drain,

I have a flat drain in my tiled shower stall. While this product stops a lot of hair from entering the drain, it does not stop everything. About once a week I remove the stopper to collect the hair that collects on top of the drain.I also found that the suction cups do not adhere securely to the grout lines. So you have to position the cups so they don't touch the grout lines. Depending on how many grout lines you have on your shower floor, you may not be able to get the best grip from the suction cups. Also note that the stopper is light blue. Wish they would offer it in white or almond/bisque.

This drain does not work. I do not recommend buying it. Hair still went down the drain. The product doesn't stick properly. The product got mildewy and gucky within a couple weeks of use. I have thrown it away.
