Product Description

Color: Gray

The Oxo Good Grips Cookie Spatula combines the strength of stainless steel with the advantages of silicone. The silicone outer layer, which is heat resistant to 600 Fahrenheit and safe for non-stick cookware, is bonded to a flexible stainless steel core for added stability. The Spatula’s thin, flexible edge glides easily beneath all foods and is the perfect size for getting between cookies on a crowded baking sheet or removing one brownie at a time from the pan. The rounded corner is great for getting sticky cookie dough out of the spoon and the angled handle keeps your hand away from fragile foods and hot dishes. The Cookie Spatula has a soft, comfortable, non-slip grip and is the perfect companion to non-stick cookware and bakeware.

I love this little spatula. I do not do cookies. I was hoping it would do for turning eggs in a small pan. Oh, yes, and how! It is just great.

I just used this spatula this morning to turn 3 eggs in a very small pan. Since it is small, it can get under the individual egg without disturbing its neighbors. Since it is silicone, the spatula does not stick to the pan or the egg or carry any, what shall I call it, frying pan debris, with it. It works perfectly. I've only broken one egg since I started using it (2 times a week for about 2 months). The handle is short and curved just right for my purposes.

You can see the "base", which is metal, through the silicone. I don't think it will break through, though, as long as you don't leave it resting in a hot pan, maybe not even then. I think it would take a tremendous amount of use for it to wear through. By then one probably needs a new one anyway.

This is a terrific small spatula and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a small compact spatula.

I can't believe I didn't purchase this sooner. I am a lover of gadgets that work well and this is surely one of them. I make a wicked chocolate chip cookie and have been struggling with a full size spatula for such a long time. You know, the ones that you have to navigate into and around the other cookies, while trying not to mash the others set around the one you are trying to get off. This is just the handiest little spatula. Perfect for the job of getting under small pastries or cookies. Oxo did a nice job on this tool. A definite plus in the kitchen of any cookie maker.

Not sure why they call this a "cookie" turner. They should call it the perfect little turner - works perfectly for eggs, and any other food you want to turn or stir in a little pan. LOVE IT. So happy I got this little guy.

I bought two of these spatulas because I like mine so much. At my house, we use them to flip eggs on my cast iron and the yoke rarely breaks--and cooking eggs in a cast iron is no easy task! We don't even have to use much oil--just a half a tablespoon of earth balance margarine is plenty, and the spatula slides right under the egg.

There are two drawbacks, though. After a few months of use, the silicone starts to absorb the taste of soap, so you won't enjoy licking the spatula for a taste of your meal. For me, eventually, the soap flavor started passing onto the food. Both spatulas did so, so I assume I didn't get a defective one. I boiled the spatulas in vinegar and got the soap taste out. Handwashing helps prevent the soap flavor, but it can be challenging to remember to keep this dishwasher-safe product out of the dishwasher.

The handle also melts if you rest it on the edge of your pan. Be careful!

I would've given this low stars as a spatula/turner. Too small, even for eggs. Too flimsy for me. Tried it a couple of times and then it just sat there unused. ****BUT**** I needed a rubber scraper in a hurry and they were all in the sink while this was hanging on a utensil hook so I grabbed it and -- oh my! It is the *****BEST***** scraper!! It scrapes a bowl or pan clean. Perfectly CLEAN!!! (Assuming the pan has soft stuff in it; in my case it was an eggy casserole kind of thing I needed to scrape out of a pan quick before the egg overcooked.) I've hated the thick-edged silicone scrapers that are all I could find in recent years. But now that I know *this* baby works so well as a scraper, I'm buying a couple more and the all the thick-edged scrapers are going to get exiled the back of the junk drawer.

I have been searching for the perfect spatula and I am still looking.

I purchased three different spatulas from Amazon at the same time to try them out. I don;t really like any of them as my previous Calphalon which they don't seem to make any more.

First, all three of these are made of nylon, plastic, etc. They will melt if subjected to high heat. If that bothers you don't buy one made of plastic.

Calphalon Nylon All Purpose Turner
This one has a nice handle. Other than that the edge is to thick, the turning surface a little small and the surface is weirdly curved almost like a spoon, it is not perfectly flat. It works OK for turning over easy eggs but not so great for other foods. The flat edge is also slightly curved which makes it all but useless for scraping the bottom of a pan.

Pyrex Slotted Turner
Remember I said plastic melts? Well this one has a very fine tapered edge which makes it great for flipping eggs. But you will only be able to flip about three eggs before the edge melts and collapses upon itself destroying that fine edge. This one would be almost perfect if it wasn't for that fine tapered edge.

OXO Good Grips Silicone Cookie Spatula
If you make a lot of cookies this one would be pretty good I think. It is about the right size for cookies but anything else it is useless for, even eggs, it is just to small.

The perfect turner would use the slotted head of the Pyrex Turner, the edge of the OXO and the handle of the Calphalon.

For the price, you can't complain. The spatula appears to be durable, but we've only had it for a couple of months.
My only complaint is that the handle isn't silicone (nor material that can handle frying pan temps, like metal), as it melts when it comes in contact with the edge of the pan. But, by factoring in the price, I'm okay with it - but gave it only 4 stars.
