I love this spatula and use it practically daily to cook eggs and pancakes. However, after just a few months the tips have cracked and one has broken off, exposing the metal inside. I will probably buy another to replace it, though, because I like it so much.

Everyone equates quality and innovative design functionality with OXO products and for good reason. This silicone spatula is no different. I purchased this one because I was so tired of the nylon plastic spatulas. The edges melt if you use them in a pan that's too hot and then you can't flip an egg and you're wondering how much of that is now in your food.

The great thing about silicone is that it can handle the heat. You know the old saying, if you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen! This baby belongs in the kitchen and the more you use it, the more you'll appreciate it's simplistic design and functionality. The silicone can be dropped into boiling oil and never flinch.

It's flexible, which is great when trying to get under something you're cooking. Plus, the edge is tapered, so it's easy to get under a fried egg or a pancake, but is reinforced with a piece of steel inside the silicone, so it can also dish it out. Literally. I know it won't last forever, but it's sure making a run for it. This spatula is the first one I reach for when I'm cooking and has easily outlasted all the other's I've purchased for cooking in my non-stick pans. If it ever wears out, I'm running to Amazon and ordering another one. It's that good.

***UPDATE***

Well, it's been 1 year since I purchased this turner and it finally broke. Almost a year of daily use, so that's not bad. I'll definitely be buying a new one. Not sure how they could resolve the issue, but it's exactly the same problem I had with my original purchase. There is a piece of metal (it's actually the entire turner) which is covered in silicone. This keeps it from damaging your non-stick cookwear and the silicone gives it the heat protection.

We have all 3 sizes. The small and medium began to tear after a few months just where the tip tapers. These are metal coated with silicone. The design does not stand up after flexing so many uses and begins to split - exposing the metal inside to your nonstick surface. We loved these and are so disappointed. The largest omelet spatula is still going strong!

The only downside is that the spatula isn't quite as "smooth" on food as a plastic one which makes it harder for things like omelettes. That being said, it is great for just about everything and hasn't melted yet.

I used to have a plastic turner. I used it once to make scrambled eggs. It melted into pieces I ate with my eggs. I probably have cancer from that turner. This one? No way. I put it into the fires of Mordor? The one ring comes back with it. I use this for everything which could possibly involve a turner. <3

So is this too much to pay for a spatula? I don't get melted plastic in my eggs anymore!

The "OXO Good Grips Large Silicone Flexible Turner" seemed to be exactly the kitchen tool I needed. Several of my baking pans specifically caution against using metal spatulas/turners to remove foods from the pan. The dimensions of this OXO turner seemed ideal - it was long and the front edge was wider than that of other similar silicone turners.

At the upper portion of the turner, the handle of the "OXO Good Grips Large Silicone Flexible Turner" is approximately 3" in circumference. It is easy to grip and comfortable to hold. The turner is large and should be rigid enough to allow turning of pancakes, eggs, and lighter items.

My one concern is the attachment of the handle to the silicone turner. The segment of handle imbedded into the silicone measures approximately ¾" X 5/8". There is approximately 1/16" of silicone below the bottom of the handle and approximately 1/16" of silicone above the handle. It appears the handle end angles down rather than being inserted straight into the silicone turner. Whether the amount of silicone below the metal handle end is sufficient to prevent it from breaking through the turner - in the future - is a primary concern.

If you need a flexible silicone turner for lighter foods, the "OXO Good Grips Large Silicone Flexible Turner" would be a good choice.

This seems like a really nice kitchen tool on first inspection. But after having used it for a variety of tasks, I wouldn't recommend it. It seems to stick to everything. Eggs are impossible to flip with this as are pancakes. Today I tried to use it to take cookies off a sheet and that didn't work either. Too flexible and the silicone doesn't slide.
