5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I love using OXO's lineup of wooden spoons. They are solid and comfortable to hold, and won't scratch metal or nonstick cookware interiors. They are so very superior to those generic, cheap wooden spoons with thin handles that are uncomfortable to hold. This spoon is perfect for stirring sauces or sauteeing. With the exception of my knives, among my cooking tools, I use...

1.0 out of 5 stars Split after one use.
I used this spoon one time, to stir a lasagna meat sauce I was making. Washed it. Dried it. Put it on the counter. Came out this morning to find that the spoon part had split, from the tip to about halfway into the spoon.

The three cheap wooden spoons I bought for $3.00 (for all three, combined) at the grocery store are still working just fine. While this...

With the exception of my knives, among my cooking tools, I use this spoon the most, along with the larger version.

Regarding the criticism of the spoon being made from two pieces of wood glued together - I think OXO has changed its manufacturing process for the better, because the spoon that I own is definitely made from one piece of wood. I would recommend this product to all home cooks and also suggest buying the large and small slotted spoons as well.

Tip: to protect your spoon from cracking, apply some food-grade mineral oil and rub it in all over. Apply once a month or so to keep the wood protected and to prevent it from drying out, and your spoon will last a long time.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cracks appeared just after 1 use, February 12, 2011

The product looked great, but to my surprise, a crack has appeared in it just after a single use! looks like two pieces of wood have been joined to make it, and they got detached at the tip just after a single use. So unless you are willing to waste 5 dollars for a single use, do NOT buy this item!

4.0 out of 5 stars No problem here - I love them, December 12, 2004

I have had several of the wood OXO kitchen tools for the last several months - no complaints here. I wash mine inthe dishwasher - no splitting. I love the thicker handles - more to hold onto.

The spoon split up the middle. I only hand washed it, but it still split. I'm not happy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great spoon for everyday, January 24, 2008

This is a nice solid spoon for every day use. I see reviews saying it splits in two pieces, I think OXO may have changed the design; this spoon is one solid piece of wood. (And very solid at that). Mine arrived with a slight chip in the bowl of the spoon, but not bad enough to return it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not so good, February 26, 2008
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Small Wooden Spoon (Kitchen)
I purchased this spoon and the turner. The turner is fine. I used it a few times when cooking - even frying and using a tagine. But the spoon split the second time I used it. I've had spoons from C&B or WS and they have worked fine. I liked this one because of the handle. Well, that's good money down the drain.

5.0 out of 5 stars BEHOLD! THE FINEST SMALL WOODEN SPOON EVER MADE!, April 30, 2005

It's small. It's cute. It's made of wood. It's also a spoon. It's the 1058023 Small Wooden Spoon and its f*cking amazing. I cannot begin to count the number of times that I have used this, my favorite utensil, to deliver the nourishment of a warm porridge from the bowl from whence it came up to my hungry lips. Anyone with a basic grasp of chemistry knows that unlike metal, wood is not a very good conductor. This means no more burnt lips, folks! Not even Satan himself could concoct something hot enough that would make this adorable little spoon burn your lips. Listen, I'm not a greedy man. All I require to live a content life is a woman that loves me, a martini glass filled to the brim with an alcoholic beverage of some sort, and a small wooden spoon with which to stir it. Thank you OXO Good grips, thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars I love this spoon!, August 30, 2006
This review is from: OXO Good Grips Small Wooden Spoon (Kitchen)
Ok ... so I may not be a wood working expert, but I think I am a fairly accomplished cook. I think this spoon is great! I was apprehensive about ordering it due to some of the really negative reviews, but I took a chance & am so glad I did. This spoon is a heavy-weight and seems to be well made. The size is perfect for my needs ... I can't imagine getting one any larger than this one. Granted I've only used it and hand washed it several times, but I see no wear and tear as of yet. If I find the spoon isn't durable in time, then I'll come back and edit this review. In the meantime, if you're looking for a nice, sturdy, heavy wooden spoon at a great price ... then look no further. I don't believe you'll be disappointed.
