Most mint syrups taste like mouth wash, very overpowering.

I was lucky enough to visit Oak Alley last Spring. I enjoyed a lemon mint julep. I tried for the better part of a yeat to duplicate the taste. It was impossible without the syrup. Most mint syrups taste like mouth wash, very overpowering. This syrup is light and sweet, the perfect compliment to the lemon and the bourbon. Absolutely delicious! Kentucky Derby this weekend and I have the drinks covered!

I've been trying to do a mint julep for years and I look up recipes but the stumbling block is always "simple syrup". I can even get mint leaves in the produce section of my local supermarket, but the issue is always that simple syrup. I even tried creme de menthe with the bourbon and it's like one other customer put it--the effect is like mouthwash. I finally gave the rest of the creme de menthe away and gave up. Then I read the reviews on this and I ordered two bottles, because if you get only one, the shipping is more than the price of the syrup. There's even a standard recipe for the mint julep printed on the bottle--a shot of the syrup, a shot of bourbon and a shot of water. I hope they keep this brand available because this stuff is going to be a regular item in the aperitif shelf of my hooch cabinet.

Oak Alley Plantation is right in the middle of sugar cane country and this stuff is made with high fructose corn syrup. Could have been so much more with real sugar

This is delicious in ice tea. The store ships very quickly. I wish they sold this here in St. Louis. I would be a regular customer!

If you're not having bourbon and water (with or without a twist), Oak Alley will make you a great mint julep (adds to the Derby experience)

We've had a derby party for many years, and this syrup made the best mint juleps we've ever had! Well worth the money!

Need to make a large batch of Mint Juleps but didn't want to have to buy a huge bunch of mint. This product provides the mint flavor and the simple syrup in one bottle. It was a bit sweet for my taste so I just cut the recipe with some water.

Visited Oak Allel a few years ago and was turned onto the mint julep. But this syrup can be used on tea of other drinks and recipes.
