Laurie Lewis is a treasure,
By Erik Kingston (Boise, ID USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Oak and the Laurel (Audio CD)
I've been listening to Laurie Lewis for nearly twenty years, and I've always been inspired by her clear voice, beautiful phrasing and boundless gift for telling stories and painting pictures through her music. The Oak and The Laurel is no exception. Laurie and her pal Tom are wonderful together. This has been one of my most favorite CDs recently. The songs and stories are thought-provoking and beautifully wrought.I'm sending a copy to my sister 'cause I love it so much.

Not quite bluegrass,
By swmagicien (San Bruno, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Oak and the Laurel (Audio CD)
The music on this CD has a lot of heart and good feeling. I bought it when it was pretty new and eight years later it still sounds wonderful. My only complaint about this CD is that the lyrics are not included, instead in the liner notes you will find photographs that illustrate each song. Incidentally, the Oak and the Laurel was nominated for the 1996 Traditional Folk Album Grammy Award.
