5.0 out of 5 stars Get Out of Your Box
This album is a excellent example of art! This brother went beyond what we truly know as gospel music to a broader example of holy expression. He has always been a candid voice in the industry which makes him the most vaulable. If you are looking for something solely tradition this ain't for you, however, if you are looking for something bold and outside your box then...

Overall I enjoy listening to this project. I was interested in the album initially because of the single track "Fail U" and as I further listened there were several other songs that caught my attention such as "Priceless", "My Friend" and "Can't You See". Overall I enjoy listening to this project. I was interested in the album initially because of the single track "Fail U" and as I further listened there were several other songs that caught my attention such as "Priceless", "My Friend" and "Can't You See". Tonex is extremely creative and likes to push his craft to the edge and as the hearer because you are intrigued by the thought of discovering what Tonex is capable of doing you become enraptured with the sound and feel of each melody that he spins. However because Tonex is so unique by the end of this cd you will form a definitive "love it/hate it" for each song and for the project as a whole. If you are looking for something to really minister to your soul, unfortunately this is not that project but if you a looking for something to provide you with some background music while you're cleaning the house or tooling around town in your car, this cd will do it for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Amazing!, March 8, 2010

This album was suprisingly AMAZING! I heard alot of controversy about this album with the explicit logo on the front of the album on the original version "Oak Park 921'05" but the songs on the japanese import that I purchased where just about the same but did not have the explicit logo. I heard things in this album and understand why he put that explicit logo on the front cover. There where about 2 songs in this album that was "BOLD" in getting the message out, which was suprising from a Christian artist. He did not use foul language in his music but the message was couragious and direct for a Christian artist. I enjoyed this album alot and like his other albums that he released in stores in the past. Lets continue to pray for him, cause he is a talented man that God blessed him with.

Amazingly suprised, K

If you are looking for something solely tradition this ain't for you, however, if you are looking for something bold and outside your box then this is it. Tonex has constantly allowed us to worship without bounds and to embrace God's message in new ways. Babies, I am 62 and if I can bump this and feel the Lord then anyone can. Get outside your box and embrace the evolving vision of God's word through brave people such as our man Tonex!

2.0 out of 5 stars Let's take a pause for the cause...., January 26, 2008
This review is from: Oak Park: 921'06 - Japanese Import (Audio CD)
Um, I purchased this from Walmart downloads, and I have to say this album I really can't find the words for this one. I'm not sure if I want to diss it or go along with it but this album certainly indicates the struggle of being in a position of Ministry and what responsiblities that go along with it, can bring about. This album is not really good if you are looking for something truly annointed and slamming like Out of the Box. This one could have honestly stayed in the box for that matter. If I were to interprete this album, I would definitely say there are instances on here that would indicate and question his "free time hobbies" if I may put it in a kind way. Was he smoking crack when he did some of these songs? He wrote a song about his child-hood dog Tippy.....Out of the game shows his frustration with the lime light. Tonex in my eyes is a genuine individual with unspeakable talent, who maybe should have just remainded a gospel singer in the church. There are simply too many devils in sheeps clothing in the recording industry. Anothny is an interesting song, that talks about his own high mindedness at one point in his life and the Lord demanded that he expose himself come clean and do right.
HUP! is one of those songs if you have never been in an church that believes in the five-fold ministry then you WILL not understand it.
I pray he finds what he is looking for. He has had some tough mountains to climb and I just hope he makes it to the top of this one to tell his story and give a testimony to the world. Tonex this album was not your best, but God luvs you and the people who love you will stand by you through the stuggles and the storms. He said he was out of the game and that this was his last album....time will tell.
