Tonex is just on another level!!!!!!, December 24, 2006
This review is from: Oak Park: 921'06 (Audio CD)
When I found out that Tonex was coming out with another album, I was instantely hooked on the idea that I was going to cop the CD. First of all, it was said that Tonex was retiring and that really saddened me because I absolutely love this mans ministry. All of his albums are totally off the chain and I had to get his new one. I must say, I cant even tell you how wonderful this album is! If you liked ANY of his other albums, you WILL fall in love with this album like I have. I can't begin to name favorites because both the cds are really really good!! Now I will tell you if you dont like contemporary gospel or Hip-hop and R&P Gospel, this cd is definetely not for you!! If you into any kind of contemporary gospel, this album will bless you in the same way it has blessed me!! Please don't burn because Tonex is no longer on an international label, he put this album out on his record company independently, so please buy and don't burn!! We woudn't want the same to be done to US inspiring musicians, so buy this album and you will be glad you did!

His greatest work yet..., March 23, 2007
This review is from: Oak Park: 921'06 (Audio CD)
To: those that are open-minded and real, YOU WILL LOVE this cd! It is unheard of that in "gospel" music you get a raw message. There are very few people that speak on issues from there heart exactly the way they feel it. Yes, there are songs on this cd that don't talk directly about God, but they do relate to life, which is impossible without God.
The songs that I like best are:
1. "When My Words Are Few": In this song Tonex is just talking about being in a backslidden state and because of that he doesn't necessarily act as he normally would. He's not glorifying that, but he says (in the song) "I'm not mad at you, things I'm going through, make me act a fool, please don't think I'm cruel really normally I'm cool, when my words are few..."
2. "Feelings": This is another song in which Tonex allows himself to transparently speak on the issues that he struggles with. This is the first verse and I think it speaks for the rest of the song: "A being forever learning, a body forever yearning, a flip of the coin reads tales or heads, but the odds are fifty-fifty, half of me is right one side is wrong, and so I demonstrate this song, I tried, but I could not fight it I tried but I can't deny it, habitual rituals unsweet, well initially they do taste good but the end is so bitter it takes my soul, but I could never let the saints know I'm out of control."
3. "Stay": A TRUE worship song. It's talking about spending time with God... communing with Him, talking with Him, honoring His presence. It talks about how we put Jesus on hold or to the side to do other things that we feel are important; all the while, God is simply saying "STAY with me."
Those are just my favorites, but honestly speaking if you like part of the cd you'll most likely like all of the cd.
