5.0 out of 5 stars Oak Park, Illinois
I bought this book to give as a gift to my cousin, who was originally from Oak Park. The book was an instant hit with her. When I looked at the book, it gave me a great stroll down memory lane. This book is well written and researched, but it's the illustrations that were the highlight. Thanks, Mr. Sokol, for the memories!!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Oak Park, Illinois: Continuity and Change
I was disappointed in this book. I had hoped to rekindle memories of the Oak Park I remember from the 1950s but there was no continuity to the book just a hodge podge of pictures. A. Bower

5.0 out of 5 stars A LOT of information, August 1, 2008
This review is from: Oak Park, Illinois: Continuity and Change (IL) (Images of America) (Paperback)
David Sokol did his research on this amazing - always-something-happening - town. Maybe you have to live in the town to truly appreciate the book. ... No, on second thought - Sokol did that for you. Oak Park is as full of individuals with individual thoughts with many, many comments and viewpoints. He shows a reader how Oak Park, IL got there and continues to be ahead of the norm for the nation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Prof. Sokol's books are always a hit., November 27, 2006

Any book Sokol writes has to be great. You have to have lived in Oak Park to understand the diverse groups that live there.

It's just plain boring and badly researched. There isn't much here anyway.
