discontinued...,
By Oakley has discontinued this model though, so there very well could be an issue with them. My pair is a custom set, so possibly I lucked out. It sucks they d/c'ed them. I had been waiting years for a set of Oakley's that resembled aviators. These are quite nice. I recommend them at that price, seeing as I paid almost double that for my custom set...

Lens popping out issues.,
By Timanator (Houston, TX) - See all my reviews Would not buy this model, Oakley should have allowed a trade up for this model. I have tossed mine in the trash as a result.

I owned these sunglasses for years and then lost them. Had to purchase again. Great fit, great protection. Durable and lenses have great coverage.

This design gives a distinctive look to the classic aviator style. Feels sturdy in the hand and contours well on the face. The quality-to-cost ratio is exceptional. The lens are good enough for most purposes, although I would definitely recommend the polarized option for driving if the additional $50 is not an issue. My only wish to Oakley is to add a polished gold trim version.

Based on Oakley's great reputation, I purchased a pair of Oakley Crosshairs about 2 years ago. Initially they were fine, but about 6 months ago the right lense popped out. I have put it back in numerous times, and it continues to pop out. I had also purchased a pair of Crosshair S models at the same time for my wife. They began having the same problem.
I researched this problem on the internet, and it appears that it is a common problem related to a design flaw in the frames, and the fact that the lenses are always under pressure caused by tension in the frames. The lens pops out of the frame with slightest impact. I contacted Oakley, and they told me that I could send them in and for $50 each they would see what they could do. These glasses were $150 per pair. No need to throw good money after bad. The tech said that the frames were probably bent. This is definitely not the case. We have been very gentle with these glasses. Oakley does not want to acknowledge the problem with their design. Think about this before you buy crosshairs. These were a colossal waste of money, and Oakley' knows that there is a problem, but continues to sell this junk to unsuspecting customers. I will never buy Oakley's again, and if you buy this model, then you are throwing your money away. |
